I didn't see a lot of moves being made - just a lot of eliminations by strong all-ins pre-flop, then Foxen punting versus an obvious monster was probably the biggest blunder leading up to the final table.
Tamayo won by keeping his head down and getting massively lucky on some all-ins the day before the final table. Then flopped the nuts all-in for like 300M in the heads-up play. I thought for sure the Finn or Swede (not sure his nationality) would win but he get over-zealous, think he was all-in with two pair versus a straight-heavy board (lost to a set). Other guy played pretty clean, similar to Tamayo, not a high level but very respectable play. Not a very memorable final table to be honest but I attribute that more to the PokerGO's abysmal coverage of the event.
Heads up moves like that are always expected. I would have liked to see a bit more action at the final table is all. The ranges seemed incredibly tight and look I get self-preservation but when 9/10 guys are calling with the same range then it makes for some dull action. Poker Stars coverage was the worst I've ever seen so that didn't help any.We must have watched different WSOP Main Events this year because I remember this as the year of people making memorable moves (and getting caught - Foxen, Kim, and Griff heads up). The entire heads up battle changed on a dime when Griff three-barreled bluffed 100M a couple hands into heads up.
Unfortunately for the WSOP, this will year will be remember for the solver controversy and lightly remembered due to being behind a paywall. Both are horrible for the game. Oh and Norman Chad is beyond awful listen to. Ali Nejad and Nick Schulman should be the main commentaries moving forward and they need to put it back on ESPN.

Also wtf are they doing allowing a laptop on the rail? That's ridiculous and should be banned
The reality is you simply would not expect an oversight like that at that WSOP final table. If you're running live hands on an engine then you are 100% cheating in my book. Is that what they are saying??In fairness, Kim's punt was pretty shocking. He was arguably the 2nd best player at the final table.
In real time, I was fine with the laptop as I naively figured they were just watching the stream and communicating to Tamayo the hands that were played an hour previous. Nothing wrong with that as that has been the standard since poker has been streamed with a delay. Can't believe they had the audacity to run simulation in real time with a laptop on the rail and the tournament director never checked or had someone there to ensure they were only watching the stream.
