You don't need to find a political identity. Just look at the values of the people that are running for office and see how they correspond to yours. If you treat politics as black and white (not saying you do), you will end up voting for people you are later disappointed with.

If you are stuck on getting a handle on where you lean, it would be helpful to know whether your pros and cons are ranked in order of importance?

I have no way to categorize this. Looks like you want the things you like to be available and legal while everything else you are against.

You aren't libertarian due to PROS 1 and 2 and CONS 3 and 4
You aren't a liberal due to PROS 7 and CONS 1 - 7
You aren't a conservative due to PROS 1 and 2 (possibly 3 -6 for social conservatives)

Sound advice. The real difficulty is finding out where the candidates really stand across these issues.

the trick is to prioritize and vote on what's important. For example, if a candidate was pro gun control but anti-UHC you have to pick your poison. No one gets everything they want

I would recommend living off the government for the rest of your life and calling Obama the Father.

Just replace his face with Obama's!

Honestly, I don't know what you are. You share some similarities with both the liberals and conservatives.

It's tough to do, I know. You just have to find the party that you disagree with the least.

This is true. Perhaps you could research the whole universal healthcare idea a little more. I know it sounds jolly but do you really think the government can pull it off properly? If you don't like taxes now wait until this multi billion dollar monster is let lose.

There is no such thing as a free lunch and in many ways universal healthcare will be much more expensive to you than the current system. Just like the current "700 billion here, 700 billion there" attitude of the executive, someone, sometime is going to have to pay for it.

Let me summarize: I'm Tennfold. I want the government to pay me not to work, pay for my healthcare, ignore my vices (gambling, hookers and weed). I want the government to tax me very little, keep fuzzy little foreigners out, keep their hands off my guns and don't let them homos do anything. :)

All is true except for the paying me not to work part:)

You do realize that government will get the money to pay for universal health care from the people don't you?
There is no other way it can be done. The government doen't foot any bills without getting it from somewhere first. The middle class will be burdened with this expense. Forget the flat tax crap, thats too fair. We'll never see a flat tax, nice thought, not happening.

I do realize where the money would come from for funding UHC.

My wallet's being hit enough with taxes, this would be another form of tax. Bad idea from my standpoint. I work somewhere near 100 days a year already to pay the government. They're getting enough of my money already. Screw universal healthcare and the horse it rode in on.
