I know midseason polls are rather useless but this week's results should go along to leveling out the inconsistencies between the polls

3 top-10 quality SEC teams went undefeated - Tennessee, Arkansas and Vanderbilt (is it 2021 again?)
Ole Miss - who was #1 in several polls went 2-2 losing midweek to SE Louisiana and 2-1 at Auburn.

I took a look at Baseball America's laughable poll from last week and have ZERO doubt they will move Virginia to #1 because-as we know; Baseball America is so far up the ACC's ass they likely haven't seen the sun in years. Nevermind, only 1 other poll even has them in top-10

I don't see Tennessee getting to #1 in any poll as Vanderbilt went undefeated. However, they did struggle midweek against Michinga pulling a 9th inning victory out of their ugly hats. If the poll makers watched, then it is possible that Vols may get to #1 in the Collegiate Baseball poll

Any poll that does not have Tennessee in Top-5 should be laughably ignored for rest of season. That being said, D1 will likely have Vols at #5 and Asshats America will likely drop Vols out of top-10.

Vols are #10 in Warren Nolan's RPI - one spot behind Notre Dame (WTF?!?) and one ahead of Ga Southern- I intimated early on that GA Southern was a good team and they are our biggest RPI win to date. Vols jumped up 21 spots in RPI while Notre Dame remains unchanged. ND is 0-3 against Q1 opponents and have a loss to Q4 (Delaware) So someone needs to explain the math to me. Florida State should put and end to ND in 2 weeks. BTW, Iona remains winless but Rhode Island went 2-2 last week

10. Virginia (19)
11. Arizona (16)
12. Notre Dame (6)

23. Gonzaga (25)
24. Clemson (18)
25. Connecticut (unr)

Fell out: Mississippi State (23), Stanford (12)

Vols jump Oregon State and Notre Dame. I am surprised they kept Rebels at #1 as they went 2-2 on week w/ a midweek loss to SE Louisiana and went 2-1 at mediocre Auburn team.

Texas went 4-1 as they swept three from a bible verse and lost midweek at Charleston.

4 of the top five and 5 of the top ten are SEC. Mississippi State and Stanford were FINALLY knocked out of poll.

Not a fan of RPI. I think ELO is better

Without researching, I'm gonna profile where the 2 or 3 guys who pull these rankings are together. First of all, none of these guys attended a college that was actually good at baseball or maybe had 1 or 2 good years at most. They are from east of the Mississippi but likely north of Ohio River. Speaking of Ohio, 1 or 2 are likely from Ohio. But not the interesting parts of Ohio. Maybe Sandusky, Toledo or Cleveland. The other guys are East Coast. Mid-Atlantic maybe but nothing considered the true south. Even though this newspaper is based in Durham, NC. I severely doubt any of the group is remotely from North Carolina. But they do love them some ACC anyway. So, maybe someone attended Duke since southerners rarely attend that school.

Despite going 2-2 and moving Ole Miss to #1 it is clear this is a ruse to allow 2-3 other schools to be over ranked right behind them in front of the three teams that have stronger resumes.

Louisville makes the huge leap ONLY because they beat the chosen ones and a team from a non-traditional area needs to be over ranked in every poll.

And speaking about BA's chosen ones. Notre Dame fell to where they needed to be BEFORE last week. And likely need to be far lower now.

I love playing the underdog role. I don't think it suits our team to be #1 going into Ole Miss or Vanderbilt. This team and last year's team played better with a huge chip on their shoulder. They love to be considered the underdog and love when the other team, coaches, and fans talk smack. The more chaos the better this team plays. I want us to be considered unworthy this week and next. I don't want TV to have to humble them.

Given that not ONE of the college baseball polls agree on anything, other than our baseVOLS are a consensus Top 10 team, which we all agree! The order in which we are positioned in these rankings really doesn't matter . . . . win each weekend series and WALA . . . we're in Hoover . . . host a Regional . . . host a Super Regional . . . and BINGO, Omaha here we come!

I just don't really get wrapped up in the polls, I just enjoy watching this team play ball . . . and CTVs post game interviews, which are priceless!

I am not superstitious! I just jump over the lines so the chalk won't get on my cleats and do the exact same thing every time a go to bat. It is called a routine.
If a pitcher likes to chew gum, he just needs to chew it the same on every pitch.
You do not talk about anything "baseball" ... if a pitcher has not given up a hit!
Streaks are broken because of loose lips.
And you never talk about 'you know what' ... when you are in the middle of a 'you know what' .... Go Vols. :^)))))

Would love to take back-to-back road series against #1 teams. 😎

My guess would be that the winner of Vols vs Rebs will be number 1 in many polls next week.

Agree, and almost said as much, but there may still be a holdout or two if Vandy holds serve this week. Being #1 next week is fine by me too — I feel like this team has enough swagger to run with that at this point.
