What is really intriguing is that, though she is very popular, she is roundly thought of as incompetent. The comparison to Quayle almost made me spill my drink. Whatever happened to that dunderhead, anyway?

Speaking Latin in Latin America.... too damn funny.

Could she be more unqualified than someone who is a community organizer, then State Senator who votes "present" as often as possible, then US Senator who spends his whole 2 years running for President?
I don't think so.

At least she has ran a state, this idiot in there now never ran a state or business, ACORN does not count.

LG, you must be terrified she could get elected in 2012 because you trash her every chance you get.

Obama is thought of as intelligent, you have to at least concede that. Palin's fuindamental problem is flatly that she is viewed as dumb.

Just because he is smart does not make him right.

And just because the media wanted to make her look dumb does not mean she is.

when you ask why people think obama is smart they're usual response is he "speaks well." by that theory brad pitt is the smartest person on the planet.

This "smarts" discussion actually raises an interesting dichotomy in American politics. There are times when the country needs someone who might not necessarily be "book smart" but who has a certain savy to them, a sort of street smarts, like I'd say Ronald Reagan was. He had an instinct about him that just kept pointing him in the right direction, even if he did not load himself down with all the minutiae to get there.

On the other hand, there are times when we need someone like Obama, who is the counterpart to Bush, in the sense of bringing in a team that is oriented on making the trains run on time, gearing things up to be more efficient, a sort of technology make-over for the country.

They are both right at their respective times. And the reason that Palin won't win with sweeping broad-based ideas is because the sense is that just everyday stuff would grind to a halt and break down.

Reagan was right for that point in time. Obama is right for the current point in time. Palin would have been a better fit in 1982.

Palin is an idiot, the GOP do everything they can to marginalize her. There are others in the party that have held executive positions and are an order of magnitude smarter and more electable than her.

*disclaimer* I do not think she is qualified to be the president, nor do i think our current CIC is either.

that being said, if it wasnt for the media giving her that image would this conversation be taking place?

While we rarely need someone like Bush, we NEVER need someone like Obama.

Yes. It isn't all media, she gave them the material to work with. The Dan Quayle comparisons are valid.

ehh, everyone makes mistakes, however the negative light has already been cast upon her and her family by the media. look how those scavengers went after her family. whenever obama goofs up you never hear of it except on fox usually and then thats written off because they arent in bed with the barakstar
