florida tennessee was on there.

the apple cup and egg bowl was on there.

leigh lafyette was on there.

but not alabama tennessee.

i think tennessee's biggest rival is alabama and i think that alabama's biggest rival is auburn by a hair. we should still be up there though.

i put tennessee alabama as the 3rd biggest rivalry now becasue of the scandals wiht fulmer involved. if there was any doubt before, they hate us for sure now lol.

i say its only behind michigan ohio state and alabama auburn.

Yeah I noticed that also. Leave it to ESPN to ignore years of good old fashioned college football tradition and rivalries.... :corso: :espn: :lame: :chair: :boxing:

I think it has to the rest of the country, but not to the SEC

What's strange/interesting about it is that UT/UF is there rather than UT/UA.

This UT/UF rivalry is intense but relatively new. If a UT-based rivalry is to be included it should be UT/UA.

It's like putting USC/Cal on there since this has been a close game recently when USC/UCLA is the better choice (if you are putting a Pac10 rivalry on there).

this pole happens to be fore the entire country. Not just the South.

Some think that ESPN is giving UT the "pole" :biggrin2:

The results so far:

1. Michigan vs. Ohio State
2. Army vs. Navy
3. Miami vs. Florida State
4. Texas vs. Oklahoma
5. Alabama vs. Auburn
6. Notre Dame vs. USC
7. Florida vs. Georgia
8. Florida vs. Florida State
9. UCLA vs. USC
10. Texas vs. Texas A&M
11. Florida vs. Tennessee
12. Harvard vs. Yale
13. Californa vs. Stanford
14. Oregon vs. Oregon State
15. Georgia Tech vs. Georgia
16. Virginia vs. Virginia Tech
17. Washington vs. Washington State
18. Amherst vs. Williams
19. Mississippi vs. Mississippi State
20. BYU vs. Utah
21. Leigh vs. Lafayette

I get the feeling the Third Saturday in October would place in the 10-15 area. Looking at the results, this is kind of a near-sighted poll.

The point about being a national poll is valid in terms of how important the rivalry is overall.

I agree that across the country, Ohio St./Michigan deserves the top spot.

I agree that it is near-sighted.

For example, Pitt/Penn St. used to be a great rivalry (Thanksgiving weekend) but those days are past.

I can't speak for everyone else... but nothing gets me more amped than a battle between Amherst and Williams, or even BYU and Utah.

UT-UF was big during the Spurrier years. that should die out now and we'll see the UT-USC rivalry pick up with all of Spurrier's soundbites that accompany it.

This is ESPeNis, remember.

They're not going to let the conversation get anywhere near "UT does not suck as a general rule."
