I will never root for Bama, though I will admit I laughed at ND getting slaughtered last year by them since they think they're God's gift to college football.
I admit to SEC homerism and love watching SEC dominate other confrences. With that said I love seeing bama get beat. So last night was bitter sweet for three reasons.
The sweet
1. Ala"freakin"bama got beat
The bitter
2. SEC lost to the big 12
3. We have to play Oklahoma the next two years.
Alabama will have to re-build, like they did in 2007 when Saban first arrived.
It is not logical to think that a program can lose their senior and junior classes to graduation or to the NFL every season and keep rebounding.
At some point, Alabama's juniors, who had little playing time as freshmen and sophomores will have to play against teams who have red shirt seniors.
Saban does play some freshmen and sophomores at the runningback or receiver positions but that is really it.
I would guess that Alabama will rebound; however, the key to them rebuilding will be at the q.b. position. It looks like in 2014, they will have a true freshman to beat out the current q.b.'s on their roster.
I freely admit to pulling for Bama last night. I loathe Bama but wanted them to beetch slap Whiny Bob Stoops because I have been more than annoyed with his comments about the SEC, or more specifically the lower half of the SEC, which includes us. Bama didn't do that for me so now I loathe them even more. And to make matters worse Stoops/OU will probably steamroll us next fall to prove his point about the lower half of the SEC not being any good.
I know alot of folks on this board pull for our rivals at bowl time and I always wonder...if you're fine with UT having losing seasons (76% here thought 5-7 was a job well done) and you cheer for Alabama/Florida/Georgia/etc in the big games at the end of the season, are you sure you're actually a Vol fan?
In my large family, with the exception of three people, everyone is an Alabama fan. I love U.T., one of my sons like FSU, and my wife is a nurse at Vandy, so she is a Vandy fan.
I absolutely love it when " O Bama" loses. I can just sit back and watch the majority of my family melt down.
They claim to like "O Bama" because in the early 70's, the regional games on CBS, NBC or ABC featured Bama. So, it grew on them.
