I know we are more interested in Tennessee's rankings but the increasingly useless Baseball America poll has now entered the Twilight Zone as they are now living the dreams. Notre Dame is officially the best team in the nation.

Not a single !#$%!#$%%$!#!#$% in this nation believes Notre Dame is even a Top-10 team. Even the Notre Dame players- if they were honest with themselves.

D1 Poll

The two worst polls are the ones that come out first because the voters spend about 34 seconds apiece on their ballot. But D1 voters are not up Notre Dame's buttocks quite as much

1. Mississippi
2. Texas
3. Arkansas
4. Vanderbilt
5. Oregon State
6. Notre Dame
7. Tennessee
8. Florida State
9. Florida
10. Georgia Tech
11. Oklahoma State
12. Stanford
13. LSU
14. Liberty
15. North Carolina
16. Arizona
17. Texas Tech
18. Clemson
19. Virginia (14 spots lower than BA)
20. Georgia
21. TCU
22. Texas State
23. Mississippi State (D1 guys are really holding out hope that MSU can right an already sunk ship)

Vols were #3 in the last Collegiate Baseball Poll and #4 in Coaches Poll.
I don't think they'll fall in either poll and I think it would be unfair to Texas to drop them too far for playing an out-of-conference road series at a hostile place like Columbia, SC.

But, they may have received a shipment of crack cocaine in their offices from South Bend as well.

Collegiate Baseball
The Volunteer State Poll

1. Vanderbilt
2. Tennessee (WOW!)
3. Oregon State
4. LSU
5. Virginia
6. Texas
7. Notre Dame
8. Georgia Tech
9. Mississippi
10. Georgia
11. North Carolina
12. Liberty
13. Florida
14. Stanford
15. Texas State
16. Arizona
17. Texas Tech
18. Arkansas
19. Purdue
20. Clemson
21. Old Dominion
22. Florida State
23. Miami
24. Gonzaga
25. Southern California
26. Oklahoma State
27. Connecticut
28. TCU
29. Maryland
30. UCSB

The thing I like about Collegiate Baseball is they are not afraid to make drastic changes early in the season if warranted. However; dropping Texas all the way to #6 seems a bit extreme. BUT they do have more losses than any of the teams ahead of them.

Vanderbilt has done nothing to earn a climb to #1.

They lost a series at home to the only team they've played this year that know which end of a bat to hold.

You know that most of those “polls” don’t even have voters, right? It’s just 1-3 guys at each entity putting the rankings together.

The coaches poll is the one to watch… at least they are immersed in the sport.

I really don't understand the ranking system in baseball. I understand in baseball sometimes the better team doesn't always win, more so than in sports like football and basketball....but how on earth can a team with 5 losses be ahead of a team with 1 loss.
