Since polls are a good bit of my paycheck, I pay close attention to the ones I see - many are the internal ones for various campaigns and interest groups. I'm not sure if it is the mosque issue or what but polls all across the country have shown a pretty significant surge for the GOP over the past week. Races that were stagnant or even leaning Dem have shown some GOP bounces of late. This is an alarming trend notes two of the Dem pollsters I work with. The GOP ones are dancing for joy but then get a little cautious noting the surge is a little too early for when they like it - typically in October but at least after Labor Day.

This will be interesting to watch how this plays out. If this trend continues, the GOP might actually pull off a dual house coup.

There is a small bit of me that is starting to buy into the notion that Obama is deliberately trying to tank these mid-term elections for Democrats in the hopes of keeping the Presidecny in 2012. If the GOP gains control and nothing changes, the Democrats can counter with "see, we told you so". If things do improve, Obama can take credit for it.

Given the very short memory of the typical American, I can't help but somewhat think this is the strategy.

Potus aside, the speaker of the house is a GOP gold mine on the mosque issue alone.

Yeah...it does sort of kill your message when you say "it's about the economy not a mosque!" and the speaker goes off flipping rocks to find conspiracies on dissent. Seems it is getting difficult to keep the three egos of Nancy, Barry, and Harry on the same page.
