When is the first offical poll due to be released?

AP is going to be released August 20, the new Harris Interactive will be released after the season starts, on Sept. 25

I'd love to see the polls come out after playing 3 or 4 games.

The one that really counts toward the BCS ranking formula does exactly that.

The AP poll's role in the BCS has been replaced by the Harris Interactive, which comes out Sept. 25.

I'm not sure how official the AP poll will be any more. Since they decided to pull their poll from the BCS I do believe their poll will become quite insignificant in a few years.

The only time their poll will get any play will be when there's a controversy after the bowl games as to who deserves the title.

With no split polls for 4 or 5 years the AP will likely fade into obscurity or somehow be brought back into the BCS fold. Barring that happening, I see them becoming a footnote to football history.
