Why do we struggle after bye weeks? We had 3 weeks to prep and looked terrible. Didn’t even show fight except for Nico.

Instead of coming back refreshed and prepared, the team often looks flat and out of sync. Is it coaching, preparation, or just bad luck? This season we tend to have our worst performances after bye weeks.

Other teams use bye weeks to tighten up, but for us, it feels like we lose momentum. What’s the issue, and how can we fix it? Can it be fixed?

Question is a good one with Arkansas. With Ohio State though not so much. Giving a team with more talent more time to scheme is never a good thing. I think they were super motivated in not letting that Michigan loss define them.

Day is still a Fing moron clown of a coach. Leaving their starters in that late in the game showed me he’s a buffoon. Don’t care that they stomped our ass either. If one of his players had got injured in that trash time at the end like Howard still running the ball? That team has a chance for a title. Day’s ego is the biggest Achilles for that program.

I don't know the answer, but you are right on with your view point on this. I don't know if the players are given too much time off to do as they please or what the reason is. But we also usually play bad at all road games too. We look like a totally different team on the road than at home. I realize most teams play better at home, but not as much difference as we do. Most any team in the top 25 would have beat us last night. I would also like to see our team come out on to the field with much more intensity than we do, show some emotion, like you are more than ready to play.

Honestly the only rationale I can come up with is that perhaps Josh's system is so dependent on timing that an interruption combined with the fairly inexperienced players we currently have just screws things up.

The slow starts and overall lack of offensive continuity all season were a huge red flag that we all poohed poohed because we were winning

Something happened at halftime of the Oklahoma game. What that was I dunno, but it was like the offense we had prior to that point was thrown out and a new one installed in the 15 minutes break. Then that "new" offense was used the rest of the season. Weirdest thing I ever saw.

Swear, I would outright buy a hard copy of the book written by some enterprising reporter on exactly what happened at halftime of that Sooner game.

I haven't thought about that, but you are right. I think we had 19 points at half time at Okl. a pretty good defensive team, and our offense from that point on changed. The scheme and everything. So what happened and who changed things to very conservative offensive schemes. It's like we started playing slower, and depended on our defense to win games.

Yes we did, but not this year, why?

Bowls the last two seasons we were breaking in a new QB. That might have something to do with keeping the team more involved.

Believe Milron only had the Candy game under his belt after the Hooker injury didn't be?

Last season Milton sat out the bowl game so was Nicos first start.

I’m so glad you pointed out the halftime at Oklahoma connection. I’ve been thinking about that since it happened and still can’t make heads or tails of it, but that is the turning point of the season where the playbook was turned on its head and we went with “Babies First Playbook” the rest of the way.

Pretty simple, OU realized there was no need to bring extra guys and that 3 could get to the QB with our pisspoor tackle play in pass blocking. Dayne was getting abused in the 2H of that game too...

Every team had some variation of this the rest of the season. Get pressure with 3 or 4, reduce the WRs cushion, and play safeties deep...

You’ve got a point. But I still feel like once that was exposed, we should have done something to negate it in some way. But we didn’t, and the rest is history.

They lost a game and got their butts kicked. Yes, this is cause for concern. They have a choice; they fall apart and go that way, or they learn from getting punked and come back stronger.
