Of and on over the years I get an urge to get a pop-up camper. At times it makes a lot of sense, other times seems like a bad idea.

What's your experience with them VN?

alot of work when you get to the campground and alot of work when ready to leave. Hard body takes that portion of time right out.

We had a Jayco popup for a few years, sold it and purchased a travel trailer.
The good:
Very easy to tow and store.
Will sleep several people

The bad:
Most do not have a bathroom
everything has to be broken down and stored just in the correct order in order to close.
If you close it when it is raining or the canvas is wet, you need to pop open when you get it home
, let it dry or the canvas will mold.

I think you would be happier with a small travel trailer. You have a bathroom, kitchen, bed and sitting area. You can stock it and be ready to go at anytime. Setup is easier vs a popup.

I would not want to go back to a popup.

Gramps advice is right on, B.

I'm hot natured so I got to have AC to sleep. That small pop up you showed would be difficult to have one. But that's me and some don't mind the heat.

As G said, you want somewhere to sit. Not every day is a sunny day when camping. Even with a dining fly you have to sit somewhere and sitting in that small A frame would get claustrophobic.

We started with a tent. Lasted about 2 trips being hot natured. Got a pop up. Couldn't wait till I got out of it. Finally got a Trail Manor. Thought I was in a mansion. Well worth it.

Every one I know who bought one either went back to a tent or travel trailer after a year or two.

My sister had an old pop-up trailer some years ago. It was an inheritance from our grandparents. She never ended up using it but it did have it's own air conditioner built into the roof. Point being that some pop ups come with air conditioners.
