The senior duo was praised for not only providing a welcoming environment for the newcomers, but also for being the kind of peer leaders not only set and maintain the standards of this program but get others to live up to that as well.
Look around college basketball, in this age of the transfer portal and NIL, blending new faces into an existing infrastructure that’s already been highly successful while also dealing with the egos of young men can be like conducting a three ring circus.

Those 2 men are underrated. Zakai is the ultimate pest who never lets up and Mashack is a defensive freak.

Gainey and Phillips appear vastly improved also. You know no opponent wants to match up with the basketball Vols. Reputation alone can cause sleepless nights.

Those 2 will be missed. Don't know who the vocal leaders will be next season.
I don't see any with the persona of Z and M
There are always candidates growing into those positions of leadership. Much agonizing and gnashing of teeth at the start of last year concerning what ever would we do without Santiago and JJJ?.

I bet Mashack would be tough in a brawl..Quick twitch with those arms. Get it
Yeah, He’s also jumped a weight class or two. Honestly can’t imagine many teams flexing against him, Dubar, Felix or Cade. It’s business decisions now, and even though CRBs squads love the lord first and family n basketball second, can’t imagine other teams getting in their faces without backing up or somebody in the middle.

Felix and Dubar, probably not, but people will try Phillips

Madison Square Garden! Fantastic exposure as we ascend to #1!
NYC the perfect stage for a point gawd....the fact we play Miami there is kind of a double-edged sword.. they are really really bad. So if we don't beat them senseless it looks bad.. but end of the season those stats count too. Time for someone to go off for 30. Lanier/ZZ/Milicic are all candidates against this moribund Miami mess.

Call me crazy, but I honestly think this might be one of the best rosters we've ever had for a possible elusive F4 run.
Saturday will be a big one to get there for me. On the road, hostile environment and have that #1 bullseye. Still can’t disagree to this point though. Several pieces there that VN has been begging for. Multiple threats to penetrate ✅. Multiple 3 pt threats ✅. Consistent rim protection ✅.

Only concern I have, and I’m stuffing it in Mookies sack after this, is how they handle a close game. Haven’t seen that yet thankfully, but it’s coming eventually..

Told my son almost the exact same words tonight.
