Early on, it appears Butch Jones staff has the makings of perhaps its deepest and most successful haul out of North Carolina set up for 2017.
Tennessee took the lead for four-star linebacker Justin Foster...following a super visit this past weekend.
Foster is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in North Carolina next cycle.
They also have a verbal commit from three-star defensive lineman Jordon Riley (Durham, N.C./Riverside). Riley is listed as the No. 5 overall prospect in North Carolina in his class. Four-star wide receiver Ryan Jones (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell), the No. 4 recruit in North Carolina in 2017, told 247Sports.com over the weekend that the Volunteers are now his favorite over Clemson.
The Volunteers are also being considered by the two other top five prospects in North Carolina in that class: four-star defensive tackle Xach Gill (Wake Forest, N.C./Rolesville) who they recently offered and four-star wide receiver J.T. Cauthen (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthberson).
2017 could be a special year for Tennessee in North Carolina.
