Wonder if this one will get swept under the rug? Not that big of a deal, Duke investigating it on it's own and dealing with it promptly will probably be as far as it goes, if it goes anywhere. If I'm not mistaken its a secondary violation anyway. Just another boring summer discussion topic.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke is investigating whether an NCAA recruiting rule was violated when coach Mike Krzyzewski reportedly offered a scholarship to a recruit during a summer tournament.

Forward Alex Poythress told CBSSports.com that Krzyzewski spoke to him earlier this week while he was in Orlando, Fla., for a tournament with his AAU team, the Georgia Stars, and offered him a scholarship.

NCAA rules prevent coaches from contacting recruits before they are finished playing in tournaments.

Duke spokesman Jon Jackson said in a statement Saturday that the school is gathering facts and that "proper adherence to NCAA bylaws has always been, and will continue to be, a cornerstone of Duke Athletics. Poythress is a 6-foot-7 forward from Clarksville, Tenn. He is considered one of the nation's top high school seniors.

I have never been able to understand UK fans' overwhelming hatred and obsession for Duke.

Yep - add to that Laettner stomping on a UK players chest (Timberlake?) while he was laying on the ground.

Lame excuses used to justify unfounded animosity.

North Carolina has handed UK gut wrenching losses. So have Marquette, Michigan St, Michigan, West Virginia, and Georgetown. The NCG loss to Arizona was far worse. None of those programs inspire the hostilty from UK fans that Duke does.

As for the stomp, 99.8% of the UK fans that hate Duke can't tell you the name of the player who Laettner tapped with his foot. Of the .2% that can, a similar percentage can't tell you how and where he ended his career without using Google. Couple that with the fact that it happened 20 years ago and I have a hard time thinking that incident is really that important to them.

Aminu Timberlake - SIU Carbondale. No Google-Fu needed.

Duck Fuke.

I think it's the royal blue.

Pretty amusing, honestly.

I think most UK fans have issues in coming to terms with the fact that there are other programs with great traditions besides ours. UNC and dook represent the biggest threats obviously. However, there are still those over in Eastern KY that would put a bullet in Laettner if he walked through their holler.

Mike Krzyzewski contact with recruit came between events, source says - ESPN

Duke's NCAA rules compliance office is seeking an interpretation from the NCAA as to whether a recruit can talk to a coach by phone if the recruit is not playing in a tournament but is still on the road, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

According to the source, forward Alex Poythress, a 6-foot-7 player in the class of 2012 from Clarksville, Tenn., called Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski Tuesday night after his Georgia Stars AAU team was eliminated from the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando.

Poythress is ranked No. 17 overall among Class of 2012 recruits in the ESPNU 100.

The Georgia Stars were playing in the AAU nationals at the same site but that tournament didn't start until Wednesday, so technically he wasn't in a tournament at the time of the phone call. But Duke is checking to see if it doesn't matter if the recruit is still on the road.

Nothing to see here...at all...

I'm sure the Heels' are pissed after the banner week that they have had, that this will amount to nothing.
