Anyone else unable to watch a game on TV because of nerves, but able to sit through games live? I should preface this by saying that I’m a 44 yo divorced dad with a high stress job, ailing elderly parents, and a million real world problems to deal with……yet the nerves from a ballgame kill me 😅. I’ve sat through nail biters (‘04 Fla, ‘13 USCjr), disappointing losses (‘05 Vandy, ‘15 Oklahoma, ‘19 BYU), and blowouts against the good guys galore (Bama, Mizzou, UGA), but I can’t watch on TV. Just seeking some Volnation therapy, I guess 😄

Yes. I had the same problem. Had season tickets for years and went to as many home games as I could considering it was a 475 mile drive each way. Enjoyed watching the games live. Couldn’t watch them at TV at home. For me it was the uncertainty of what was going to happen on TV. Live, I could see everything develop and my mind was prepared for what was likely to happen.

My family had pie in the sky then I took them after mom and dad couldn't attend anymore. Upgraded to the Terrace then the Dooley years hit. It was 400 miles one way for me. Add in meals and a hotel or pet friendly house rental and it was a hefty chunk of change to make home games. Then to be treated to the level of play we were getting, and I just wasn't going to spend that kind of money for the product being pushed. Thanks but no thanks. I live much further away now, but I doubt I'd jump back in regardless.

Same here. I bailed at the end of Dooley’s last year in 2012. Too far, too old, too many uncompetitive losses. Now I just raise my granddaughter and don’t think about sports nearly as much. Just read and post here every now and then.

There was one particular game we went to where it rained pretty good. We were getting whipped...again so we decided to leave early. Got caught in a downpour on the way to the car. Once we got there we just looked at each other and asked why we were doing this since it not only cost us a lot of time and money, but we weren't enjoying things like we should. Didn't even have to speak the reply. Just gave up the seats and put the money into traveling.

I got divorced in 2021 and cared very little about anything, especially football……it was actually so liberating not to have emotion about it. But it retuned 😄. But I love going to games, but like most, I’m tired of blowing the enormous amount of money to drive 5 hours and spend two nights.

Glad it's not just me. Watching on TV, I just can't seem to enjoy it. Maybe in person I feel like I have some level of influence, or maybe it's the feeling of being in it together, because I've never stressed at a game like I do at home.

I cannot sit still... I pace around.... dog takes me for a walk..... burn off the nervous energy. But at Neyland I am fine (maybe because I usually sit in the Terrace lol).
