Holly Warlick's Post Game comment says it all:
"I am not here just to motivate those kids, and they know it. Something has to start clicking for them, because I can go stand on my head, and they can figure out what they need to do. I thought in the first quarter we came out and got after it, but then after that we just kind of settled. I don't know the answer, or I would fix it...."

Holly does not understand that she is the problem. She would never step down voluntarily. It is more likely that some frustrated players will leave long before Holly does.

Unfortunately based on the interview she has no clue that she is the problem. She is not going anywhere voluntarily. The program will have to be run into the ground before there is a coaching change. This may happen sooner rather than later though based on this play and no recruits.

I got completed trashed on here the other day for saying I know firsthand, from a previous starter from last year's team that this group does not like Holly. They know she's over her head.

There in is the problem, she does not know what the problem is. She does not know how to get this team motivated to win and to take ownership. When a coach throws that type of message out there, they are throwing up their arms and admitting that they cannot fix the situation. A coach cannot tell players you guys go figure it out, without a blueprint from the coach it is just not going to happen. At this point Holly should consider stepping down, because not only is she losing the players, she is losing the fans and potential recruits. No one wants to send their child away from home to play for a coach who has problems figuring out how to motivate and take ownership in what they are playing. Tonight was the first time I heard fans yelling brick when our players were missing shots.

In the past, you have been a big supporter and I respect you for that. I am not trying to be sarcastic, however, if the situation is such that this group does not respect or like Holly and believe she is over her head, in essence she has lost the team. To gain them back is a monumental task which is difficult to reverse. When coaches lose their players, they are usually done. Word gets around and other coaches use this to their advantage to discourage Lady Vol recruits. One more bad recruiting year and most programs are done. Players began to transfer and the team becomes a mere skeleton of what it was. They in reality become the La Tech, Texas Tech, Old Dimension, Stephen F. Austin, and The University of Texas? We know how long it has taken Texas to once again become relevant. If this case is as you described, Tennessee needs a whole new staff or things will only get worse. To truly be an elite program, they must hire a coach who was part of a successful program and whose aim is to coach an elite program.

Am I reading this right? Is she really putting it on the players? She is so typically incoherent it's hard to tell...

With Pat it was always the players too. But, Pat knew how to motivate players. Pat was not a good X's and O's person. But she willed her teams to win with great defense and rebounding. That only works for somebody like Pat. Your team plays such outstanding defense you can't lose. Pat's gone.

I know the problem, I know the problem, I know the problem. Pick me Pick me.:mf_surrender:
It's actually problem(s), not problem.

No team will ever be successful when your turnovers are more than your assists! It's one thing to preach "value the basketball' but it's another thing to teach.
Shooting 31% for the game on your home floor against a zone defense?
Allowing the other team to shoot 50% for the game, and also 47% for 3pointers out of 19 shots? My oh my.
The 7 that played could of got the job done. 4/7 players ended up having 4+ fouls last night. That is a sign of lack of focus for sure. (which led to them shooting 20 free throws, somehow they missed 10)
We seriously could of easily been beat by 20 in this game, and the only thing that saved us was the fact they missed free-throws. The last time Tennessee got beat that bad at home (that I can remember) was Parker's year when we were home against LSU and Fowles.

Every team who plays us will play zone from here on out. If our offense isn't addressed, our PPG will always be around 50. That means our defense will have to be the best in the nation for us to win a game.

This season is salvageable, and we could still be a final four team with what we have, but the team and the coaches will have to work together on this one, but the clock is ticking...:ermm:

Holly has obviously lost this team but firing her now is not the solution for this year.Someone like the Athletic Director must step forward and get an assistant Coach ( do not know if there is one on staff that can negotiate the minefield but....) to step forward and assume the reins behind the scene.....or the team leader will need to take charge to overcome the coaching void.Someone must take charge of this out of control ship and give it some direction because it is now utterly rudderless.

Let's see what we have here. The Lady Vols have a coach that has won THREE Conference Championships, and TWO Elite Eights, in three years.

Yes, let's all get Hysterical and fire that horrid coach.

You hit the nail right on the head VFI. Scoring 50 just isn't getting it done against good teams. When we start losing by 15-20 points a game the roar on this board is going to be deafening, even Franklin will have had enough.

I think there's also a void of a team leader who can motivate her teammates and that's hurting us as well. Half the team are either new or chronically injured so they haven't had much playing time, which virtually eliminates them from leadership roles, and the upperclassmen don't seem to have the necessary personalities to be leaders. It a shame that a couple of them can't get out there and kick some *** like Anosike did.

Just another problem facing this team.

Holly has won One Conference Championship ...
Tied for another ...
And won one Conference Tournament.

Elite Eights don't matter - The Lady Vols don't hang banners for Elite Eights.

Get your facts straight.
