Okay, so maybe not, but these are at least guys who've been discussed as potential candidates.

Bob Stoops (OU) vs Gary Patterson (TCU) on ESPN

Art Briles (BU) vs Mike Gundy (OSU) on Fox Sports

Stoops got the better of Patterson, and Briles whipped up on Gundy. Thought this would be an interesting topic of discussion.

So, going by Rivals recruiting rankings here is how the talent breaks down:

2009:

OU = #13; TCU = #46
BU = #55; OSU = #36

2010:

OU = #7; TCU = #46
BU = #39; OSU = #31

2011:

OU = #14; TCU = #26
BU = #46; OSU = #28

2012:

OU = #11; TCU = #37
BU = #45; OSU = #32

Season W-L:

OU:

2009: 8-5
2010: 12-2
2011: 10-3
2012: 10-2, losses to ND and K St.

TCU:

2009: 12-1
2010: 13-0
2011: 11-2
2012: 7-5

BU:

2009: 4-8
2010: 7-6
2011: 10-3
2012: 7-5

OSU:

2009: 9-4
2010: 11-2
2011: 12-1
2012: 7-5

Who do you feel has done the most with the talent they've had? Recruited best, all things considered? And most importantly, among these four (realstic or not), whom would you most want as UT's next head coach?

Petrino all day. That dude just wins, regardless of where he's coaching or what kind of talent is at his disposal. He's a winner. I don't dislike Strong, I just think he hasn't proven nearly as much.

Strong is clearly a better recruiter. If Petrino could put together a recruiting staff that pulled in Top 5-10 recruiting classes at UT, I think he could own the SEC East.

EDIT: Whoops, I was too quick on the draw.

No I'm with you, I just edited it so it wouldn't take away from the OP. I'm in for Petrino, he's my guy.

I appreciate it. Agreed on Petrino. This thing will be a disappointment if we end up with a Golden/Fedora/Strong when Hart could've had Petrino for a bargain price. Huge disappointment...

Stoops and Patterson ... Briles and Gundy have records that look good as of late. They do not compare to the other two though out the career.

He can be trusted with winning games in the SEC. No NCAA baggage, coaches up 2 and 3 * players to win.

Why hasn't he already been hired?

Integrity. It still means something to some of us. I love winning, but not at all costs.

I don't get all the hate for Strong. Winning at Louisville with low ranked recruits( I know Big East), Sec defense experience, finds a way to win in tough games.
My top 3:
1 Patterson ( throw him the checkbook)
2 Strong
3 Fisher

If you don't win at all costs then you lose.
Our current situation can't wait for a long term rebuild, we need wins.
