New to the site, and glad to see all the Orange blooded folks out there....but i was reading an article or two earlier this week and came across two quotes from Colquit and Ainge that really have me wondering now about this coaching staff...

(i have been defending the coaches all year to my buddies and really, anyone that would listen, so this is a departure for me)

Ainge basically said something to the affect that the practices need to focus more on correcting mistakes made during games. That there need to be ramifications in practice for people that miss blocks, drop balls, throw picks, fumble, commit penalties etc...

Colquit basically said that Special Teams in his mind was more or less looked on as "break time" for the starters when they were told to go work on that area of the game....

And in reading John Pennington's post on GoVols.com, he is getting second hand information from former players that allude to practices being sloppy, players jogging on running drills, and not even copmleteing drills to acceptable levels before moving on to other things...

Now, if this is all true, then i have to wonder about the disciplinary issues on this team.

If you take the comments from the players this week, the reports on practice habits from people who have supposedly been there, the poor performance on the feild this year and then all the off the feild issues for the past 1 1/2 years, at some point, doesn't 2+2=4?

Not saying Fulmer should be fired by any stretch, but if things continue to go south, and lose one of our 3 remainng games, and looking ahead to next year, with us losing most of our defense, and let's face it, returning the bulk of our offenseive skill position players, 7-5 or 6-6 isn't out of the realm of possibilities next year. By end of next year, we may be faced with the fact that we will be in a coaching serach.

Now having said all of that, he does have a huge opportunity in front of him. winning out this year and getting the righ OC in could play in his favor. Especially if the recruiting doesn't fall off this off season....Either way, there will be a microscope on him thruout the off season....the next 18 months will be very interesting for Phil Fulmer.

I think our "special" teams should take the short bus along the Vol Walk before Saturday's game. That would be appropriate.

We all know there's a coaching problem.

If troops that fight wars take on many defeats, we would clearly and appropriately question the General of the Army. This is especially true when the Army is superior to the group they are fighting.

Those who choose to take a no-fault approach to our coaching staff are doing so for personal reasons, I suppose. Because no one can honestly say that our systemic problems are the result of an amazing coincidence whereby every non-executing player somehow ended up randomly assimilated on TN's team.

It's almost not worth discussing, frankly.

That's almost poetic in its truth.

My personal belief is that The Moderators should ban the coaches wives from posting here under aliases.

I have honestly wondered this myself.

How many of these people who want to be blame the players instead of the coaches, have some kind of ties to the coaching staff. Thats the only thing that explains some of these defensive comments.

I've wondered the same about some of the EA fans. He's ranked near the bottom in the ncaa as a QB, yet they believe he's still gonna to deliver at UT. Its never made any sense to me. Everyone is agreed he has lots of potential, but how many games do you lose to develop someone's potential? A whole season it seems...................
