I know there is a lot of emotion right now with as bad as things have become .
I also agree that Holly is in over her head, but she knows it too. Just look at her in the post game presser today. She is no dummy and loves UT like all of us do. She knows she is done and looks like she is just as sick about it as the rest of LV nation. I know she wishes things had gone better this year, and she is not the answer. Gotta be tough to get your dream job and have it go like this .
Praying for her tonight . She knows her time is up.

Holly and each young woman on that team are in my prayers. They and their parents entrusted Holly to lead and guide them on this basketball journey. No one ever said that the journey was going to be easy; but THEY ARE LADY VOLS. When they look up they see 8 NC.

Very nicely put. After today's game I don't feel as benevolent toward Holly. Her ineptitude is affecting alot of people. I'm sure the 5 star recruits that chose to come to UT are having regrets...as well as their parents. This is NOT the experience they expected i'm sure.

As a coach it is your job to tell your team DO NOT FOUL under ANY circumstances. Today was just one example of her insane ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

First off, you shouldn't be down to the wire vs the worst team in your conference; especially if you are a preseason final four favorite.

This horrible season is not even the main concern. It's the fact we have ZERO recruits for 2016-2017 and lost the top three players in OUR OWN STATE to other schools.

When recruiting fails you are toast as a program until u get it back.

This is as bad as it has ever been for the LV program. It's one thing to not meet expectations but this was a top 4 program in the entire country.

It's nice to see so many care about this program. It's always meant something to so many. That's why it's waaaay past the time for Holly to leave. The future of the program is at stake.

Holly is only part of the problem...we have some stupid players. With 3.4 seconds and LSU with the ball at the end of the court, Carter fouls LSU. With some solid defense, there is not way LSU should have scored that far away in 3.4 seconds. Next there were 5 turnovers where a UT player threw the ball toward a UT player with two LSU players surrounding...plain stupid! Middleton pulled a couple of stupid plays too.

Spook go down the lineup. It is full of HS All Americans. If they are doing stupid stuff on the floor, that is because they are not being properly prepared. Someone is not pushing the right buttons that makes them play up to their potential.

And this has been happening for awhile. Starting from the day Candace Parker and her group left, the Lady Vols has been sliding slowly and gradually until it became glaring this year. I trusted Pat would be able to fix it. Then her diagnosis meant we had to bring in someone else. And I really felt Holly had worked beside her long enough to continue a successful program.

I look at pictures and profiles of this lineup, and I see the foundation of what should be a championship caliber squad. But when I watch games, I see disorganization, confusion, and worst of all, a lack of hustle from some of them. That happened at times during Pat's run. And when that happened, that player sat her butt on the bench. Holly is not doing that. Pat had the ability to rip into her players when they messed up, but they still loved her. For some reason, Holly does not have that ability.

That is why Holly Warlick is a great ASSISTANT coach. But she is in over her head as a head coach.

"If anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

I pray that God will give Holly the wisdom to do the right thing for this team and for future teams and resign now. An interim coach and an end-of-season surge might prevent some transfers.

Did anyone stop to think that it is gods will that she be terrible and get fired? I mean, maybe someone beat you guys to the prayer punch and prayed she was a terrible head coach. That's how this stuff works right, first come first served?

:eek:lol::eek:lol:...or squeaky wheel gets the grease.

P.S. On a serious side, this thread is the best portrayal I've ever read on why that it's possibly the time for Holly to go...thanks, because humanity and compassion are most precious to us all...especially in the face of adversity...don't know what's going to happen, but wish Holly all the best...:peace2:

GO LADY VOLS!

Mixed emotions after seeing the presser. Holly looked as though, if she hadn't been crying (or wasn't during her remarks...she kept sniffling & biting her lip) that she was about to have a breakdown in front of the reporters, who gingerly ask questions. Their tones remind me of people speaking in hushed tones at a funeral home.

While appreciating her career contributions & feeling somewhat sorry for her, I'm also aggravated at her remarks. For instance, she really threw Carter under the bus (go & listen to or read her comments, which also appeared in our paper).

I asked my wife what she would have said, and she knew the drill: "One play didn't cost us the game. We lost the game when we only scored 18 points in the first half...when we threw up bad shots & committed turnovers...when we missed free throws. I should have had our best free throw shooters in the game & should have pulled everyone back to defend & avoid fouls at the end. It was a team loss."

Instead, she pointedly and repeatedly put the blame on Carter. Even if she thought it was the dumbest play in bb history, no way she should have done that.

Didn't Texas A&M lose to SC on a similar play earlier this season? That was even worse because the Aggies had just taken the lead with a few ticks left on the clock, and their girl intentionally grabbed a player & fouled with .09 seconds left because she was unaware of the score. In that case, Gary Blair protected the player for a bonehead error that made SportsCenter highlights.

Holly's other typical comments ("We got stuck with the ball in our hands...we just stand around, and I have no explanation," etc.) don't instill a lot of confidence, either.

If you really feel that your players are dogging it, you can send a subtle message such as "It's our job as coaches to bring in competitive players who will follow the game plan and work hard on every possession." Then again, with no recruits on the horizon, that's a pretty hollow threat.

Your post speaks for me, too. I was appalled by Holly's answer regarding the last foul. Good coaches do not throw their players under the bus like that. Instead they deflect the question to themselves like Gary Blair did, and accept responsibility for the miscue.

Holly's press conference performance was unacceptable. She needs to be replaced.

In the Texas A&M/ S.C. game, I believe that the game was tied when that foul occurred. Sessions made 1 of 2 foul shots to seal the 1 point victory. Both fouls were horrible, but as you stated, Blair protected his player. IMO, Carter's foul is worse because Tennessee was up by 1 point when the foul was committed. If A&M didn't foul at the end of their game vs S.C., it would have gone into overtime. S.C. would have been too much for A&M because their leading scorer and point guard had just fouled out and they wouldn't have been effective without her.

I wonder if both coaches (Holly & Blair) instructed those players on what or what not to do in that type of situation. Why foul 80 feet away from the opponents basket?? If they make that shot...kudos to them. You're supposed to practice "game" situations.

the a&m girl was fresh into the game, I think a freshman, and put in to replace an injured girl, not the most experienced ball player on the team and the team's reputed defensive specialist.

No way in hell should Holly protect Carter, or any other of the bonehead players yesterday.

My wife was almost to tears after the loss to LSU and I doubt she was the only one. When we watched Holly's post game interviewed, you sensed that she is a clueless defeated coach. She looked like a hapless deer standing in the middle of a two lane highway while headlights were coming at her from both sides. The interview was so sad but it really epitomizes how far this program has sunk in the last 4 years.

I agree. Holly sounded like a certain Duke coach (Not K!) in her post game remarks. And that's not a compliment.

Prayers ought to include a few for the program. From all indications on the recruiting front, next years team won't be as talented as this one is. But the coaching will be the same--holdovers from Pat's staff.

And nobody should protect Holly for her piss poor coaching. She is a complete joke and she didn't have enough sense not to put any players on the line with 3.4 seconds left.

Im not praying for someone for sorry coaching. I reserve prayers for important things. If she has health problems by all means yes.
