Only confirmed death is that of the pilot. He was taking off at 4:28PST from the Hillsboro Airport, facing northwest. He then made a turn east, then looked like something was wrong as he turned south. Then he went down a ways east of the airport, and took out two houses. Four houses suffered damage, one house struck directly was obliterated. The owner of this house was in Portland for the day, the house was vacant. There were two people in the house next door who were fortunately on the opposite side of where the crash was and made it out before their house burned down. There was another house adjacent that was basically completely burned, although a skeleton of the structure still stands. Then one more house has some minor fire damage. There were also supposedly two kids selling raffle tickets for a little league team who knocked on the door of the house that was directly hit... They were at the next house when the plane crashed. Thank God they made it out safe.
I don't know if the pilot's identity was released yet... But it was known that he was a lawyer from southern California and a trained pilot. He was confirmed dead pretty much immediately.
