1. Jay Cutler....wow.
1 a. Philip Rivers...not too shabby.
2. Todd Collins is not very good.
3. The Bengals NEED Carson Palmer.
4. The Bills qb situation is laughable at best.
5. Reggie Bush--you got to be kidding me right? he can't be that good at this level already, can he?
6. V. Young...oops...oh well, you weren't supposed to be the guy this year anyway.
7. clinton Portis....what a tackle!!!!!
8. Welcome to Carolina Keyshawn!!!
9. Cardinals new digs looked really nice. Will the football team match?
10. Are the Eagles just teasing their fans??? they should only play the starters 2 series per game, or until they are winning, and then walk off the feild at that time and declare victory.

Young didn't look terribly bad for his first live NFL action. Long way to go, yes, but he isn't expected to produce or be the man until 2008 or 2007 at the absolute earliest.

I liked what I saw from Volek. It's nice to finally have the best QB out on the field with the first team all the time in Nashville. Just gotta hope he can stay healthy.

I think the Titans organization is going to catch heat in the coming years for taking Young over Cutler. I think Cutler will turn out better and a large portion of these homer Titan fans wanted him picked. I like this scenario since I hate the Titans.

You're probably one of those life-long Colts fans, huh allvol?

Actually no, I am a lifelong steelers fan, but really don't care for the NFL that much as compared to college football. I just hate the Titans, I live in middle TN and get tired of hearing about them. Any failure they have is music to my ears.

Perhaps you should move if you hate hearing about the hometown team? It sounds as though it's making your life miserable, a man shouldn't have to deal with such an inconvenience in this day and age.

Perhaps I will live where I want and watch your crummy team fail year after year.

I suppose you were unconscious from 1999 through 2003.

nope, I was here. I saw those talented teams come up short all of those years. That's even somewhat more entertaining than when they suck, because all the fans get so excited just to have their hopes dashed.

Kinda like the Steelers of the 90s, I can see how you'd be familiar with coming up short despite loads of talent.

dude you're not going to upset me with that, I am a casual NFL fan at most. But I do get more involved watching the Titans suck it up, just to hear this town cry about it. :harhar:

Funny how a world championship ereases the memories of any down years in the 90's....it was kind of like how last night all the Bengal fans were booing Jerome Bettis....he just held up his hand...the one with the RING on it.

as for the titans, it may be a while...i can't trust billy volek to get them out of that division. Jax and Indy are way ahead of the curve right now when compared to the Titans.

Plus i seem to remember the Steelers making it to one super bowl in the 95 and being the playoffs a few other times as well...they lost the AFC championship game, at home of course, to the Broncos in 97...

i wouldn't think they drafted Young that early with the expectation he won't be ready to start for 3 years? if that is the case, then they did choose poorly.

They did the same thing with McNair, and that seemed to work out alright in the end.

Would I have rather they drafted Cutler or Leinart? Of course, those two are clearly better passers and have a more advanced football IQ (along with regular IQ judging by the Wonderlic, but I digress). They chose to go with Young, seemingly hoping that he turns out to be the next McNair... the potential is there, I guess, and we'll just have to see how he develops.

As for other first impressions from the first weekend of pre-season action, I really only watched the Titans and Bengals games.

The Bengals defense still looks to be lacking, although they were without Thurman. Chris Henry looks like he's going to be an explosive receiver if he can just stay out of jail. The Redskins' front seven made the Bengals' offensive line look like a JV team.

FYP :D

Also, Reggie Bush's game yesterday was a little overhyped. He had 59 yards on 10? carries? One was 44 yards, so the other 9 garnered 15 yards.
Yeah, i have screaming that at the over hype network ESPN. If they werent the only channel with decent sports news i would swear them off.

They also seemed to be making a big deal about Reggie getting stood up by a corner that he outweighs by about 30 or so pounds... shouldn't he be bowling through corners, not getting stood up and knocked back?

Pac has bulked up Tid. Im am gonna keep preaching this until someone listens. Pacman Jones will be a stud CB this year.

I never said he wasn't, but a running back should be able to run through a corner back. Even if Pacman has bulked up, he's still undersized compared to a RB.

ah, no big deal...cowher has left this all up to speculation because of his actions....what Bettis said was what he thought, nothing more....and Cowher said it at the end, no harm no foul, no damage to their relationship...

trying not to be biased, here, but all in all i though Bettis wasn't too bad...hammed it up with the crowd a bit...good stuff.

I have an NFL question. How can a franchise that uses the slogan "committment to excellence", purposely sign Aaron Brooks to be their starting QB. That guy is awful.
