SI.com just posted their Spring football rankings Tennessee is third behind USC and Texas. Very good ranking but I think we should be #2 behind USC. In my opinion we will have a better running game than Texas, and did anybody see their QB Vince Young play last year? He is Brent Schaffer minus two arms. Plus our defense should be as deep and overall talented as anybody in the nation (including Texas). But overall #3 is not that bad.

I would prefer a lower ranking, UT teams seem to respond better in the underdog role

Preseason rankings are worthless. How anyone can rank a team at this point is ridiculous.

I also think that preseason rankings work against you at the end of the year if you disappoint the pollsters. Look at Auburns fall from grace last year. The press hates looking stupid.

Great teams can win in either role as pre-season favorite or under-dog.

UT is a great team. I love the high ranking

The high ranking will help if you win games. It is almost impossible to start outside the top 10 or 12 and get the BCS bid. I still think I prefer an 8 or 9 position. In recent history preason top five sec teams have not won it all

You must have totaly missed the game he had aginst Michigan. Vince Young really came on at the end of the year.

Vols 2345, I think it has been proven that the big 12 was way down in defense this year. He should have been completely dominant. Did you see what a talented qb did to ok.

living in austin i hear the debate all the time. it changes from year to year as to who would beat who in heads-up.

texas is catering to vyoung's style of play with a run-n-gun offense. they are returning a good crew of receivers that are not battle tested but look good on paper.

selvin young RB is returning from injury and is lightening quick. they are also returning over staters.

given they will lose to OU and might have trouble with a&m and r.mcneil. maybe texas tech with the high flying offense. their real test will come in the second week of the season against ohio state at the horseshoe.

9/10 is bye week for THE REAL UT. i'll be in ohio wearing true orange and cheering on my 2nd favorite team in orange.

we can all hate the f*ckeyes... two words: BILL DUFF!!

Um I don't get what you are saying. If the big 12 was down on defense this year, why did he dominate arkansas for the sec, and michigan from the big 10. Texas had the best defense in the Big 12 so I don't really care what OK did. Last time i checked we werent talking about oklahoma, we were talking about Texas. Texas is bringing back alot of great talent, and with the whole big 12 down except them, Its hard for me to see them losing. They do have a toughy aginst Ohio State though.

To say that he dominated ak is a little extreme don't you think? Michigan had a frosh at qb in his first BCS game. What I am saying is that if he were a superstar, they could have scored more than 7 points against a down ok defense. I am saying that I am not that concerned about Texas next year. The kid cannot, I repeat, cannot throw the football.

16/28 180 yards 1 td

21 rushes 191 yards 5 yes 5 td.

How is that not domination?

Below average UM defense, who never faces a running qb or scheme. Ok (below average defense as shown by USC) 8-23 for 86 yards. Wait, that can't be, yes its right.

Lets not forget that the oklahoma and texas played the second game of the year before Texas had any type of offensive production.

I just don't think you watch texas alot or you would no they are going to be very very very good this year. If any team is ovverated it is Iowa and USC.

I agree with lexvol, Young might have had one or two average games throwing the football. I say average because 180 yard and 1 touchdown in the college game is average at best, but he is not a good passing QB HIS ARM SUCKS! I watched the TX vs OK game last year and he was missing wide open throws by 5 to 10 yards. Now his legs are maybe the best in college football. The kid can dominate games with his running ability. He reminds me of the Nebraska QB's of old.

Not unless USC has switched their colors. Who is going to challenge them in the pac 10? Aaron Rogers is long gone.

USC has had more problems with there team then we have. They will get upseted by someone, garuntee it.

And to say his arm sucks is ridculos. He had a bad game aginst Ok, so what. thats one game. and when you say that he is average because he only threw 180 yards and 1 td. how could he have thrown anymore when he was already in the endzone with his legs. I'm telling you he is going to have a very big year this year.

This year will only be worse. With Cedric Benson gone, ends and backers will have more freedom to key the qb.

selvin young is a very bad boy at the RB postion and was splitting time with Benson before he got hurt. There will be no drop off at RB in texas.

Guranteeing a USC upset? I wouldn't go that far.....There won't be many teams that are good enough to play them next year and beat them......The Pac 10 isn't a strong conference at all

To the topic now: I like the higher rankings but I believe we need to be in 5-8 range not in the top 5....Usually we bust when we have a lot of things expected from us....Hopefully not this year though

I had never been a fan of Young's until the Rose Bowl in which he blew me away and made me a believer
