Barbaro won by like ... 6 lengths or so.

That is why I said it was a fluke. It seemed like the majority of the horses made a poor run. The horse is not good enough to win by the 6 lengths.

Bernardini and Diabolical are longshots that are worth a play. Hemingway's Key is also worth a play in exotics.

Looks like the jockey was over anxious to me.Can't he control the horse behind the gate?

100 pound jockey versus a thoroughbred. If the horse wants to go, he can't really do anything to stop him. Prado's one of the best. If not for his quick action, the horse is dead right now. Shades of the late Chris Antley saving Charismatic at the end of the Belmont in '99.

Tony Kornheiser is sure to be devastated. Horse racing back to being irrelevant for the next 50 weeks.

Agreed..................

Hatvol do you remember about 15 years ago a tragic horse injury in the breeders cup?

Either way it was much worse than Barbaro.

I cannot remember the horse, I was only 11 at the time.

I see your point. It is my understanding the horse has a 50/50 chance making it.Is that correct?

Not really. Go For Wand went down, threw her rider, got up, and tried to finish the race with her leg visably mangled. It looked serious for Barbaro, but more along the lines of Charismatic or Prarie Bayou in the Belmont.

It did not cross your mind at all?
Only in very general terms. This injury was different and not nearly as graphic. Go For Wand's injuries were so severe she was euthanized on the track.
