Marshall comes into town this weekend sitting on a 1-2 record, with losses to West Virginia and Kansas St. Hopefully our guys get ready for the game and take care of business. I actually think this game will serve as a barometer for just how good or bad some aspects of our team are. For example:

The Running Game: After the Florida debacle, you can expect Fulmer and Cutcliffe to come our in full-blown "Dear God, we have to establish the run" mode. If we can't run for at least 100 yards on Marshall, that's bad . . . really bad. Hofstra scored 31 points on these guys for God's sake.

Rushing Defense: Hopefully we can shut down their running game. If Marshall has close to as much success on the ground as Air Force, that's a really bad sign.

Hopefully we'll kick butt not have many problems.

What does everyone else think?

I agree with your "barometer" comment. Only thing I might add is that I hope we don't have an emotional letdown. Surely we've learned after last year not to overlook anyone! Well, I do have one other thought ... was a little concerned that we didn't run the ball better against AF, but thought at the time that maybe we were just taking what they were giving us, now I'm not so sure. Guess we shall see.

I thought the swing pass out of the backfield aginst fla. was just as good as a run .I felt it could have been used until they stoped it ,using it would have opened up other plays in the running game. Lets hope we use the marshal and memphis games to get this going. I would like to see coker in that play with his speed.

i would expect them to really work on the running game...this game won't be a highlight reel...and may be closer than we'd like it to be.

I'm expecting a close game... not a one point game for the third week in a row, but I won't be surprised at all if the gap remains at 10 or 14 points throughout the game.

Barometer? So we now use teams like Marshall as a barometer? In the good ole days teams like Alabama and Georgia were used as a barometer.

This should be a cakewalk.

UT - 45
Marsh - 10

Tennessee-21
Marshall-17

Air Force should have been blown out too, don't forget that. Marshall has had two weeks to insert some option style plays into it's offense. If there's one thing history has taught us it's that Chavis has no clue how to defend the option.

Hopefully, I'm wrong and this game is a blow out in UT's favor.

If we can't run the ball any better, most of our games are gonna be close or blowouts going the other way.

Marshall lost to WVU 42-10 and to Kansas State 23-7 ... therefore, I feel the score will be:

UT - 34
Marshall - 3 or 10
