Aric Almirola
Wendell Wallace
Promising NASCAR driver whose only experience on dirt came in last year’s Old Spice Prelude to the Dream.

Dave Blaney
Tim Fuller
No problem with dirt. The 1995 World of Outlaws champion and 1997 Knoxville Nationals titlist won at Eldora in The Historical Big One in 1997 and the King’s Royal in 1993 and 1995.

Clint Bowyer
Clint Bowyer
Grew up on dirt and won the 2002 track title on dirt at Kansas’ Lakeside Speedway.

Kyle Busch
Scott James
Current point leader in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series grew up on asphalt, but adapted quickly to dirt, as he finished second in 2007 Prelude.

Ron Capps
Brian Ruhlman
NHRA star will have to get used to turning left – and doing it on dirt, but experience from last year’s Prelude should pay dividends.

Carl Edwards
Stacey Holmes
Began racing career on dirt tracks and showcased his dirt track lineage by winning 2007 Prelude.

Bill Elliott
Ray Cook
Plenty of dirt experience for the 1988 Sprint Cup champion, who since retiring from running NASCAR full-time, has been a dirt track fixture.

Ray Evernham
Ray Cook
Former NASCAR Modified Tour driver turned crew chief turned car owner trades ownership hat for a helmet and steering wheel at Eldora.

Red Farmer
Stacey Holmes
A legend that at more than 75 years of age is still unafraid to mix it up on dirt with drivers half his age.

Jeff Gordon
Clint Smith
Four-time Sprint Cup champ raced at Eldora for the first time since 1991 in 2007 Prelude and finished third.

Robby Gordon
Scott Bloomquist
Versatile driver tackles Eldora’s tricky confines for the first time, but his car is provided by four-time Dream winner and three-time World 100 victor Scott Bloomquist.

Denny Hamlin
Dale McDowell
Not a lot of dirt experience, but plenty of late model experience from running asphalt bullrings in home state of Virginia.

Kevin Harvick
Mike Dillon
Made his dirt-track debut two years ago at the Prelude and has been testing extensively in the lead-up to this year’s Prelude.

Jimmie Johnson
Clint Bowyer
2008 Prelude will mark dirt late model debut, but the two-time and reigning Sprint Cup champion is familiar with dirt, as he began racing career running off-road and stadium trucks.

Kasey Kahne
Dale Beitler
Cut his teeth on dirt in USAC competition and maintains his dirt track ties by owning World of Outlaws team with driver Joey Saldana.

Matt Kenseth
Ernie Davis
2003 Sprint Cup champ continues to develop as a dirt track driver by running extra-curricular races whenever his schedule permits.

Bobby Labonte
Bobby Labonte
Owns a dirt late model team with driver Earl Pearson Jr., and occasionally gets behind the wheel for some dirt driving fun of his own.

Mark Martin
Billy Moyer
One of the all-time greats. While he doesn’t have much dirt experience, has proven time and time again his unparalleled adaptability.

Ryan Newman
Steve Francis
Like Kahne, cut his teeth on dirt in USAC competition and has become a threat when competing in dirt late models.

Cruz Pedregon
Jim Bernheisel
Like Capps, this NHRA star will have to get used to turning left – and doing it on dirt, but he also has experience from last year’s Prelude.

David Reutimann
Ivedent Loyd
Third-generation driver began racing dirt modifieds throughout home state of Florida before breaking into NASCAR Slim Jim All-Pro Series in 1997.

Ken Schrader
Ken Schrader
Could be the favorite as he will race anywhere, anytime – especially on dirt, and has proven victorious at Eldora in USAC competition.

Tony Stewart
Mark Richards
Liked Eldora so much he bought it in 2004, and in first full season of ownership, debuted the Prelude in 2005, and then won own event in 2006.

Kenny Wallace
Ed Petroff
2005 Prelude winner grew up on dirt, and after two decades in NASCAR, has again made dirt late model racing a staple of his routine.

J.J. Yeley
Jeep Van Wormer
Like Kahne and Stewart, cut his teeth on dirt in USAC competition and won multiple USAC races at Eldora.

RACE NOTES:

· Six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions are scheduled to participate in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream presented: Bill Elliott (1988), Jeff Gordon (1995, 1997, 1998, 2001), Bobby Labonte (2000), Tony Stewart (2002, 2005), Matt Kenseth (2003) and Jimmie Johnson (2006, 2007).

· Four Daytona 500 winners are scheduled to participate in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream: Elliott (1985), Gordon (1997, 1999, 2005), Kevin Harvick (2007) and Ryan Newman (2008).

· Drag racing standouts Ron Capps and Cruz Pedregon will compete in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream. Capps has 25 career NHRA victories and has finished second in Funny Car points three times (1998, 2000 & 2005). Pedregon won the 1992 NHRA Funny Car title and has 27 career victories.

· The elite group of drivers in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream have combined for a staggering 639 victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Indy-style, NHRA and IROC competition. (Sprint Cup – 325; Nationwide Series – 197; Craftsman Truck – 31; Indy-style – 5; NHRA – 52; IROC – 29).

· We could not obtain a computer from NASA to compute the amount of short-track wins that Red Farmer has compiled in more than 50 years of racing. Basically, it’s a lot. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

· A total of 26 major championships have been won by drivers in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream: Sprint Cup [11] – Elliott (1988), Gordon (1995, 1997, 1998, 2001), B. Labonte (2000), Stewart (2002, 2005), Kenseth (2003), Johnson (2006, 2007); IROC [9] – Mark Martin (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2005), B. Labonte (1991), Harvick (2001, 2006), Carl Edwards (2007); IndyCar Series [1] – Stewart (1997); NHRA Funny Car [1] – C. Pedregon (1992).

· Jeff Gordon’s trip to last year’s Old Spice Prelude to the Dream marked the first time he had returned to Eldora since he won the midget portion of the USAC Four Crown Nationals in 1991.

That was the best race I have seen in a long time!! I was very impressed with Robby Gordon. He gave Tony a warning that next year hes coming back to win it! I think Robby got the fever!! People can say what they want about Tony Stewart but he has the biggest heart in the garage. Awesome race!!

Dave Blaney set a new Eldora track record for late models. I thought he would be a contender in the race, but he had problems.

Jeff Gordon, (who was very strong last year) wasnt even close.

Clint Boyer was very good, finishing 3rd.

Kasey Kahne had ignition problems all night, that his crew never could fix.

Tony Stewart was the class of the field. You could tell when the green flag dropped he was on a mission.

Robby Gordon had never raced on a dirt oval before, he and Bloomquist (his car owner) had been practicing at Volunteer Speedway earlier in the week. It showed with his very strong second place finish.

Just bring back a couple of dirt track races like they used to run in the beginning. Then you would have a truly well rounded driver's Championship. We would see one of the most fun races of the year as a side benefit, right FineVol?

Jeff Gordon hasn't been close in anything he's ran in this year....I remember though, he was tough last year

Anything Bloomquist touches on dirt runs good, I used to go regularly to Volunteer and anybody that had Bloomer's Chasis or anything that had to do with him and what he put out ran awesome. I don't much care for him but Robby Gordon can drive anything he sits in he just can't keep it off the wall

Bloomquist is an excellent chassis man as well as a good driver. Scott was a regular at The New Kingsport Speedway/Raceland when I helped put on the races there. I had the dubious distinction of dqing him after he won the feature for being underweight. The track operator was pressuring me to look the other way since he was a big draw, Bloomquist refused to come back again. But later I ran into him at Volunteer and he told me I did the right thing.

Bloomquist had a truck deal with Rousch in... '05 I think, but it fell through when he got busted for possession of cocaine.

He is a huge draw to any track he goes too because he's so fun to watch...I've met him a couple of times and both times I've met him he's been a super nice guy...If the guy could just say no to the drugs he'd have his shot at NASCAR IMO he's that good
