Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I guess I understand fans being upset, but all he’s really done here is say the quiet part out loud. Every person in the world probably has a similar attitude towards someone they have to deal with at their job. Anyone who actually thought referees were some sort of robots that were somehow above professional disagreements and resentments towards certain managers had their head buried a mile deep in sand. They’re required to disclose any club allegiances they have and don’t referee certain matches accordingly, but sentiments like this are just going to happen. They are human beings after all.

That said, he probably deserves the suspension simply for being dumb enough to allow this to get out to the public. That’s the biggest lapse in judgment in all this.
The real story here should be 1) who was recording this and why and 2) who leaked it. Based on what they were talking about, he said this during COVID.

Agree with all of this.

I can see not liking someone like Klopp who had a big personality and is extremely opinionated and does not go easy on referees.

But even putting yourself in a position for something like this to get out is idiotic. Your entire job centers around being unbiased, fair and making good judgements. The statements you made cast doubt on your calls made so far and anything you will call in the future.

Just can't happen in that business, and his career won't survive it.

Damn, City is in shambles right now. I didn’t get to watch the match but they were up 3-0 on Feyenoord at the 74th minute and went on to draw 3-3. What a collapse.
Watch the highlights if you get a chance. It wasn’t just that they gave away a 3-0 lead, it was how they did it. Every one of Feyenoord’s goals were a defending disasterclass by City.

I wouldn’t write them off just yet. They’re still probably the most talented team in the PL. But this definitely feels like the most precarious position they’ve been in during Pep’s tenure.
I’m not writing them off; just making jokes. That’s all we really have as Tottenham fans.

They do look a lot more beatable without Rodri though. Just goes to show how important that position is. Arsenal didn’t really become legitimate contenders until they signed Declan.

With the lawsuit hovering over their heads, their plethora of injuries and their current position in the table, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance they don’t win it this year. Especially if Liverpool beat them this weekend.
