Andy Katz is reporting that the Preseason NIT is leaving campus venues for "neutral" sites. Nashville will be the one where UT is placed. Spokane, Charlotte, and Indianapolis will be the other three sites for the first two rounds. The semis and finals will still be held in NYC.

Which other teams will be in Nashville?
Belmont is the one certainty. It depends on where they want to send Notre Dame and Valpo. If they don't wnat Indiana, ND , and Valpo all in Indy, I'm sure one of them would be sent to Nashville. The other teams will probably be sent to sites to balance fields. Winthrop is in the tournament, but I'm going to guess they're going to Charlotte.

Looking at the field again, if ND or Valpo don't come to Nashville, my guess is the field in Nashville will be UT, Belmont, Baylor, and Iona.

Ahhh, will any of the regions be stacked? UT, Belmont, Baylor, Iona seems a little weak.
Not really. UNC, UNC-Wilmington, Winthrop, and Sacred Heart in Charlotte isn't terrible. IU, Notre Dame, Valpo, and ???? in Indy is pretty good. Baylor will actually be pretty good next year. The Preseason NIT usually doesn't have more than 5-6 good teams in it. It's designed to get four good teams to New York.

Ahhh, so I suppose the top 4 would be considered UNC, UT, IU/Zaga in that order.
I think Winthrop is better than Gonzaga or Indiana, but with the way the field will be placed that sounds about right.

What did Winthrop lose from last year? I'm not particularly impressed with IU or Zaga, but the scheduling seems to favor them.

James Shuler is their main loss. They return a really good team.

Here ya go hat, here are the brackets and such:
Tennessee to open up against Fordham in Nashville for the
Pre-Season NIT. The winner of that game will face the winner between Belomont and UNC-Wilmington for the right to go to New York.

The other Brackets are :

Indiana, Lafayette, Notre Dame, and Butler playing in Indianapolis.

North Carolina, Sacred heart, Winthrop, and Iona playing in Charlotte.

Gonzaga, Rice, Baylor, and Colorado State playing in Spokane, Washington.

That will be interesting. I saw Fordham blow Temple out in Philly at the end of the season. Derek Wittenburg has a pretty good young team. Katz must have been confused, no sign of Valpo in the field.

UNC-Wilmington seems to always be a very tough NCAA first-round out. The Nashville bracket is certainly not as easy as it may seem.
