I don't see why it matters what the product is. If I go into CVS to buy aspirin and a candy bar (I have no idea what aspirin costs) and a bottle of aspirin is $100 and the candy bar is $1.50 I might buy the candy bar but I'll go somewhere else to buy the aspirin. IDK what the retailers markup is, just what the product costs me.

Look at Kroger. (Straight from their 10K)

For every $1 they sell, their cost of the product is 77-78 cents. The cost to run the store is another 20 cents. The last 2 cents is profit and to pay interest expense...
