I know why many in the public look unfavorably toward public education.....50 years of focused and concentrated effort by conservative media to portray public education in the worst possible way. It's had much of the desired impact.

It's well deserved. Public education in America these days is pathetic. The kids going thru the system right now won't be prepared for anything except how to be offended and how to cry in mutliple pronouns. Kudos to the jerks who are standing up to it and demanding schools teach academics.

I was in no way saying 98% of students are jerks. 90% are great.
I said that there is a 98% probability that this kid is a jerk. (based on the article and what he and his mother said)

I am 100% certain, if that kid hadn't been white and straight, it'd have been a non-issue. BTW, kids need to be taught that God created man and woman. And everything else is a by-product of mankind.

Problem is, people fail to realize or admit, that separation of church and state in schools, ultimately includes the separation of anti-church and schools. Schools are to be neutral academic sites.

There's only one. The choice is whether one accepts that or not. And that is a choice we are afforded in the bible. It's not mandatory. I've got twin grandsons that were born with the tools. They did not come out transgender. If their identity changes in later years, it's by their own choosing....and that should not be taught or influenced in any school by the staff.

Ironically, the one god also teaches that not everyone will accept him. Funny that he already knows mans games, huh? I exerise my freedom to be a believer and don't really care if I'm ridiculed for it or not. I personally don't ridicule those who do not. It's their choice.

Actually there are many different beliefs now and throughout history. Teaching only one limits our children's learning. Yours child be right and could be wrong. Let's not teach that kind of stuff as fact in schools

I never said it should be taught in schools. I did say if you are going to have separation of church and state, that it must also include the anti-church and state. Which in it basic form is a "religious" choice as well. You can't ban religion from schools, yet promote secular beliefs such as transgender and LGbt, or Godless beliefs. My personal belief as a christian is that it is my responsibility to teach my child outside of school. So, I have no issue asking that my childs education at school be strictly academic, free from political and social agendas.

The caveat is that you can't eliminate the basic tenets of any religion from schools or other places. All rles and priniciples applied in schools or other places...cheating for example...are born of basic religious teachings of many religions.

Yes you actually can want that's the reason behind the separation. No one is teaching anti-church they're just teaching something that goes against your version of God. There's a real difference

You don't really seem to want it free of political and social agenda but rather just free from the ones you disagree with

If you're allowing different versions of God to be taught, then you don't have separation of church and state. You have discrimination against mainstream christianity by allowing all other alternate socio-christian beliefs to be peddled, and outlawing biblical beliefs. You're telling me my belief in God can't be taught, but someone elses version can. That's contradiction. Creating a god to fit ones lifestyle in order to live guilt free does not make it a legally teachable tenet in a school.

Agreed. There are many different beliefs man devised. But, there is only one creator. And many of those beliefs tie back into a single supreme creator, regardless of who the conduits or prohpets were.

Is the god of Christians and the god of Islam or Judaism not the same? The line of separation in these 3 religions is Jesus, Mohamed, or the belief that the Messiah has not yet come. The God all 3 ultimately pray to is one in the same. so, yes three of the largest religions in history all tie back to the same God, yet in different ways.

I have a small issue with this...... A person spends their whole life in East bumble F88k China and has never seen or heard of your God. How is he supposed to accept him?
