I just wish that there was a standard that was set and maintained across political lines. Biden jumbled his words. Nothing more. But you’re correct, Trump would’ve been pilloried for that slip up.

I agree with Newyorkvol - he was trying to say Negro League which is a used reference but instead said was a Negro. He corrected it immediately.

I also agree that Trump or any other person on the right would be attacked for it.

Riddle me this - why reference Satchel Paige as a "Negro-League" baseball player at all? Why not just refer to him as former great Major League Baseball Player, Satchel Paige?

I just googled "Biden reference to Satchell Paige", to see the entire context of this statement. It is apparently a story that he has used repeatedly this year, including a reference in February 2021 and a reference to the Pope on the trip he just finished. In none of those stories did he reference the Negro League. That makes sense because that reference has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

I am conflicted. I know that he wasn't trying to say what he said........ However, if he wasn't pandering,which I consider racist, it wouldn't of happened. All he had to say is " I have adopted the philosophy of the great pitcher Satchel Paige.

...of course, even that is a stupid move for Joe. While Biden IS an old man, he now presents as MUCH OLDER than his actual age due to dementia. That is exactly the opposite of Satchel Paige's point in that story.
