Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

So much for all that sacrifice Obama talked about at his Inauguration. What he meant was, we would all have to sacrifice so be could jet off to exotic locales and his wife could go shopping.

The original Bushes' trips to Kennebunkport way back when I was a kid put it in perspective for me. That is what they do. I guess Bush 2 payed his own way when he went bushhogging at the ranch in Crawford? Every other week it seemed he was "back at the ranch". So yes, cool as hell with me. How do you feel?
