Pressure is on-Ark loss bigger each game going forward

They have to beat either BAMA or GA to even be considered for the final 12. No more than 2 losses will even be considered. BAMA is their best hope since it is at home. That's even before they play Vandy and Kentucky.
Folks need to accept what this season really is. We're 7-5 or 8-4 at best.

We have to stay in the running for the SEC title game to be considered for the final 12. The best way to make the playoffs is to win the SEC. Anything else is relying on the the hope strategy.

Arkansas was the mulligan, that game is no bigger nor does it mean any less. What matters is what we do from here on. The Vols can still make the playoffs as long as the next loss is not to any other team outside of this weekend or 4 weeks from now. Win the games you're supposed to and split those two or sweep them and the Vols are in. That game won't hurt near as bad either as long as Arkansas keeps winning. That team is 12 points away from 6-0

Please stick with me here… Why are we worried about 12 team playoff right now. Is that a goal? Yes. However, if the team focuses on the opponent for that week, the rest of it will shake itself out. So the only thing to be concerned with right now is BEAT BAMA! After that move on to the next opponent (in this instance UK on Nov. 2), and continue that till you end the year after the Vandy game. Then see where things stand as far as SECCG and post season play are concerned.

Can’t do anything about the past, can only do something about what’s right in front of you now.

Most every team is flawed, and think we'll find out TX is too. Good thing is, other than really the OL, is that our problems aren't as much talent as they are execution. Holding calls negating gash plays...Nico just missing open WR...WR not making 50/50 catches... IF, big IF, but if we clean up a few things, I think we can blow it open like no one's thinking. I think Bama wins, but this is a game we can win.

What's your honest reason behind saying this? Because we lost to a pretty decent Arkansas team, and did not beat Florida by enough? Historically, both of those teams have been tough for the Vols to beat.

It was just a couple of weeks ago the talking heads were saying 3 losses might not keep LSU out of the playoffs. It all depends on quality of wins and losses. I doubt this is the case, but the talking heads are saying a 2-loss Bama team will be left out due to the Vandy loss.

if this season is going to be special…Saturday is the key to everything. The team will have all the confidence in the world to finish at worst 10-2 if they win this weekend.

We're already 5-1, with Kentucky, Mississippi State, UTEP, and Vandy ahead. You know that, right?

Not to mention Bama and Georgia are potentially beatable this year. Particularly Bama, at home.
The schedule is precisely why I'm bearish on this years team. Combine that schedule with the mounting injuries and our OL play and it's not a confidence builder. Guess time will tell. If I'm wrong, I'll take my medicine and eat crow.

I recognize that anticipating and then predicting the worst is a defense mechanism for you:

Sooners by 13-17 points.

Tennessee 13
Oklahoma 17
78 yards

Tennessee 20
Arkansas 31
Tiebreaker 225

Tennessee 19
Florida 27
Tiebreaker 43

It is possible to take even psychological defenses too far. Maybe temper it a little. We're not going 7-5 this season, and probably not 8-4, either. 9-3 seems likely, though 10-2 is certainly possible.

Go Vols!

We could do 9-3…we’ve got Kentucky and Miss State in Knoxville and Vandy in Nashville…nothing is a gimme but those are winnable. I still hope we take Bama down this weekend. Sort of depends on which teams show up.
