What if it was 5 legal hunters and not poachers? Would you guys be celebrating?

Lions vs. poachers with AK-47's. Works for me.

I thought that the original noble basis for sport hunting (as opposed to hunting for food, which is a different topic) is that your human wiles are supposed to be matched against the critter wiles. Carrying a Kalashnikov that basically shreds anything within range hardly seems like hunting. More like blowing s**t up.

I hope that the lions enjoyed their snackies.

If lions are on the endangered list and on a game reserve how could they be hunting legally?

They are not endangered everywhere. There are places that their numbers are enough that they are a nuisance to local farmers and the income made from tags, permits, trophy fee and other associated things adds a huge amount to the economy. Also "game reserve" doesn't mean the same thing everywhere. In some paces they are more like Wildlife Management Areas here in Ga, basically government owned land for hunting. Safari companies either draw or bid for limited number of tags that they then use for clients, or they lease entire areas called concessions that have a limited number of tags associated.

Just for the record, this isn't a true story.
It was originally posted by a faux, satirical site back in the spring.
