I can't speak on behalf of the current situation, but back in 2005ish, we still marched down Andy Holt when all of the renovations to Glocker were happening. The entire left side of the street/sidewalk (bookstore side) was closed to pedestrians.
The sight and sound of the Pride of the South Land never fails to get my orange blood pumping, one of Tennessee's great traditions. Every college band in the country does the circle drill conceived by Dr .Jay Julian and flawlessly executed by the Pride of the South Land Marching Band. epper:
Last season POTS marched same route of Vol Walk due to construction on new student center. Seems I heard that would be the case this season too, bu not certain. Anybody have the facts?
It actually works out good because as soon as the VolWalk is over, you don't have to move to see the band. If you're there early and claim your spot, you've got it made. I recommend a cold, adult beverage as well...but that's just me.

Used to be difficult. Now they're begging you to go. It helps if you play something that isn't trumpet, and they have routinely taken a few clarinets/piccolos off those instruments and moved them to either horns or baritones. I had never marched before my first year in the Pride and I made it.
You'll be fine. There were many unskilled musicians and marchers when I was there. I don't think the band is in the state to turn people away at this point.
At the Music City Bowl battle of the bands I noticed that Ole Miss had an obvious senior citizen in their band. It made me wonder if he a student or professor or what?
