Nothing makes me more proud to be a Vol fan than traveling. Being in Poughkeepsie, NY this weekend to visit my girlfriend, numerous random people have come up to me asking about our basketball program's future. Many of them see us as a great basketball program. Getting to my point, the average fan (especially college age and younger) see Tennessee as a very good program. Some of our fans have an extremely warped perspective of how "bad" we are.

Tennessee is a historically great program in BB and FB. We are the only team in SEC basketball that has given KY any competition at all. We have also been more competitive against Ala in football than any one else and Lady Vol basketball speaks for itself. UT basketball will continue and get better if we make the right hire. I question the wisdom of allowing Hamilton to play a part in the hire. Hamilton should be fired first.

These same fans fall under the "instant gratification" variety. Make a bad hire and fade into mediocrity and see whats happens. Thats why this hire is a huge deal.

Every head coach hire is a "huge deal". You, of all people, should be aware of that.

True, buts especially relevant in times when the entire program can fall apart overnight like it can in Knoxville. IF the main guys leave and no recruiting class shows up on campus then its going to be a tailspin for years. I thought our program would take several years to return to the national scene but Pastner has done a good job of at least keeping us in the conversation. Caltook everything when he left. Reminded me of Shermans March to the Sea
