I need help printing a photo from Internet that is in jpg format. The pic is from an online news article, so I first tried to purchase an actual copy of the photo. However, I've had no luck finding the credited photographer or his/her organization. So, plan B.

I've saved the image and printed it, but the quality is terrible even on a fairly high-end color printer. I'd like to actually print it and frame it, but unless I can get a very high quality print, it's pointless.

Will it change anything to convert the jpg to another format? If I saved the image and took it to a professional printer, is it possible to get a high quality print (no smaller than 5 x 7, but preferably 8 x 10) from a jpg image?

Any help is appreciated.

There is no point in trying to convert it to any other format at this point. The only way to increase the size from a less than satisfactory image is to put it in a photo editing program and resize it while maintaining aspect ratio. Even then there is no guarantee that you'll be pleased with the results. The larger the original image is the better.

Do you care to share the link?

I can try to share the image itself as I have it saved on my computer. But the link to the original article is behind a pay wall. I can try to post both in a bit.

My guess is you're not going to get it in printable quality without contacting the site and trying to get a copy of the original. Websites always put up reduced quality photos to decrease load time. If you really want the photo you could try emailing the website or looking up the author of the piece on social media. There might even be a photo credit somewhere in the article that you could use to track down the photographer.

^^ I did find the photographer's name through a website tonight and am hoping the company will provide me his contact info. Thanks for everyone's assistance.
