based on the last five games, I would rank our positions of need as follows:

1. Big DT's
2. Cover Corners
3. Speed RB's
4. Return Specialist
5. LB's
6. OL
7. Safties
8. DE's

What do you think?

We will have to fill the gap at TE that Stocker will leave. But yes I agree with your list

i personally would like to add another kicker. Palardy hooked a ton in pregame warmups. I hope he develops but man Im nervous.

so youre saying we basically need an entire defense?

i completely agree... also some depth on offensive line. which we should get.
and yeah a speed rb would be very nice. i miss coker and creer.

1. DT
2. OL
3. S
4. DE
5. DB
we need DT depth but we'll get back Walls. The games are all won in trenches so the first 2 are needs. S will be thin and could get thinner if Jackson leaves the team. DB we could use some size and an elite person like Lanier would be great. How could we not need a DE for your list? We have miller, smith and sometimes M Jackson plus get back Ben Martin after 2 successful ACL surgeries and then whom???

If you say Bohanon and Fowlkes I will start crying....

1. DT
2. LB
3. Speed RB
4. TE
5. OL

You are very close to what I am hoping to see us close with. At the moment I would not take anyone who is not an elite type player, regardless of position -- we are far from panic mode anywhere on our board.

1) DT (at least one -- Wright)
2) LB (need at least one, preferably Dawson, then Turene -- would take both, if possible)
3) TE (need 2 -- Cam Clear and Jay Rome, please)
4) DE (at least one, preferably Drew or Pagan, then Mackey, if he can qualify)
5) Speed RB (only one, and has to be elite)
6) JUCO DB (only room for one, either Moore or Lanier, but if the numbers worked, both)
7) OL (only Richardson and Marcus Jackson or equivalent need apply)

If everybody listed knocked down our door to commit, we would have to make some very hard choices but would try to work it out.

Do you not think LB is in the top five?

Obviously you have to have depth and get player in the pipeline to develop but the way he was talking it sounded like he was saying that there was an immediate and strong need there for next year. I could have misunderstood.

Based on our current commits and *assuming* they stay committed....

1a. DT--Couch will be huge but we need more talented depth to spell Hughes, Walls, Couch, etc. Hopefully Wright or Johnson will provide that depth.

1b. LB--arguably a bigger need than DT, IMHO. This is a position that speed kills and right now we're not very lethal. Plus, having LB's that are as much a benefit in coverage as they are in run support supplants a lot of issues in the secondary.

3. TE--again, could make an argument that RB is a bigger need but considering the lack of bodies after Stocker leaves, TE is a bigger need. Rivera (sp?) is the only one on the roster that has made any impact what-so-ever, and the loss of Stocker over the middle next year could be significant IMO.

4. Speed at RB. Poole and Neal may not be the speediest backs in the SEC but they're more than serviceable. However, the lack of a home run hitter is evident and adding a back that adds that threat to this offense could be te difference between a very good offense and GREAT offense.

5. OL depth. Obviously. Very talented but very young. Depth is a serious need.
