Recognizing the best players and pitting them against each other is a great idea. But nobody really plays hard in the Pro Bowl. It's almost always a bad game.
So, I have a completely off the wall suggestion. Have a Madden tourney and let the two best gamers go to Hawaii and play the Pro Bowl using the players voted in. Give the players and coaches a bonus for getting in and let the gamers duke it out. Give them each a winning or losing player's paycheck.

Something else. And that something should be skills competitions, because I love watching them.

Like, the same stuff they do at the under-armour games for high school kids.

Who's the fastest player, who has the strongest arm, etc. etc. It'd be much more watchable than the pro bowl.

It could be that the NBA has the best 'top player competition'. No blitzing in the Pro Bowl. And like it was mentioned, nobody cares about playing hard. Avoiding injury seems to be the plan.

And baseball? I find the regular games boring enough.

I watched the NBA when Doc, Bird and Magic played. But if the NBA had stayed on strike this season, I probably wouldn't have noticed.

I am fanatical about the NFL, and have never watched more than 2 minutes of the Pro Bowl. They might as well make it flag football.

Scrap it but leave the honor of being named to the Pro Bowl.

It is purely for the players. The fans of NFL football are an afterthought for the Pro Bowl. For me, the baseball All Star game is the only one worth watching. But MLB has even ruined that.

I watch it simply because it's usually the last football game of the year. But other than that....I wouldn't miss it.

I usually don't mind the pro bowl but I hate that its now the week before the super bowl.
