Disparities aside.

This as the potential to be a good thread.

I think this may be the year to prove it. If the defenses are the same (similar). Tennessee and Florida as a proving ground. I think ultimately UT will Have the better defense. As a general Question can Florida's defense handle a pro-style offense. That executes Semi flawlessly. Site examples.

If the first national title didn't provide a significant clue . . . shouldn't the second national title in 3 years have convinced you?

Gavol

Don't kill the debate before it gets started.:p

Focusing on this year, I think that FLORIDA will not win the national Championship!
It will be a pro style offense that throws a monkey wrench into the equation!

The problem is personnel. Can UT slow down Florida's spread? Yes! We can and we have!

Can Florida's spread be slowed enough to lose? Ask Ole Miss. But in general it is a tough offense to matchup against. The thing is that unlike Nebraska under Osborne, Florida will not be able to continue to find a new Tebow to stick in there. He is seriously a QB at the college level who we will be talking about in awe 20 years from now. He is also going to be successful in the NFL only if he changes positions (see Scott Frost, Matt Jones). Tebow if he tries to be the next Rex Grossman will not enjoy the NFL.

The fact that Kiffin will be able to send Prater to the NFL, or Ambles, or Bryce Brown, and Oku etc means that we will be able to attract more and more great players. Kiffin will make UT, USC east. When we have players coached by NFL coaches, drafting high and playing well in the NFL, success will breed success.

Florida cannot offer that to its players because they are not learning how to do something on offense that carries over to the next level.

Finally...OUR OFFENSE SUCKED BECAUSE OUR OFFENSIVE LINE WAS HORRID! Come on guys! The Clawfense meant offensive shifts that the line did not understand leaving them confused and hesitating every down. They will run the ball on Florida and you will see how much easier that makes it for our defense to go out after an Ed O speech and play like their pants are on fire. If Florida scores 24 this year on 250 yards of offense, TN will win a close game. I hope the margin is a pick six by Eric Berry again (he did it as a freshman). He needs to do the Heisman pose in the end zone.

I'm a pro-style guy myself. IMO, the best formation in football in a single back with three receivers and a tight end. If you've got a dominant O-line and smart QB you can do just about anything you want out of it.

I don't agree 100%. The most Glaring being that Tebow won't be successful at QB at the next level. Dependant upon the team that drafts him and whether they by into the hype that is the debate, that he can't play QB in the pros. I dare say he pulls an Eli Manning and tells the team with those thoughts of him playing at any position other than QB to take a pass.

Also, if Florida Scores 27 and 375 yards of offense. We still have a chance . If for no other reason than the laws of probability.

I think most are in agreement that the best way to the NFL is being in a pro style system. (1) Will we begin to see more and more HS kids begin to lean more towards Pro style teams and away from spread teams? (2) Thus forcing more colleges to abandon spread and return to pro style?

Discuss.....

Being a former WR in a spread and a pro-style, I prefer the pro-style, and when I watch I love to see the pro-style with a balanced RB breaking it for a huge run.
