to HC and hire the best DC money can buy. Chaney has what appears to be a good relationship with the current players; know the recruits (committed and uncommitted); may be able to retain some of the juniors heading to the nfl draft (Bray/CP/Hunter/OL). This might be the only way of keeping this football team from degrading into a dumpster fire for the forseeable future. It would alo be much cheaper! This is how CPF got the gig...promoted off of Johnny Majors staff...didn't seem that 'sexy' at the time but turned out to be a pretty good ride. Chaney is not any worse than any coach that we would consider at this point and would not be completely starting over.

Yeah! To another team. Our OC & DC should have left with our HC. Everyone needs to relax. Things will play out...for the better of course. Could not be much worse.

if chaney can bring us to bowl -eligible. why not? 7-5 or 8-4. it's not bad for vols right now. There is no way we come back immediately.

I am not even sure he has made himself a candidate for the job. He and Phillip Fulmer are two fall-back candidates that I would gladly vote for over the Petrinos of the world. However, I think there are at least 10 or 15 coaches that I would take a long look at first. No reason to panic just yet. In recruiting, it is important to have some good vibes surrounding your program. I am not sure Chaney could produce that until he could win some big games. I, personally, don't want to wait that long.

Unless we hire Pelini or a good NFL coordinator, which is very unlikely, we will not get anyone with sizzle at this point. That's the problem. If Hart is thinking about hiring a head coach with a thin resume, then he SHOULD consider hiring a UT guy. Why? Genuine passion for the program. I don't think Chaney is the answer--but I would support Chavis, who is better leader and motivator. Why hire an unknown, C-level head coach when we could hire a guy with similar credentials who knows and loves the Vols? Seriously, is a guy like Butch Jones going to get us back to the top? Maybe, but probably not. I'd much rather have Chavis than a guy like Jones. If we can do better--Pelini, then yea. I do not want us to hire Smart--we've had one disaster with a bama hire already and don't like bama people. Hart has already screwed this up. We need UT guys.

Not saying this is the ideal situation....with some of the names currently being floated as candidates...Chaney seems a bit more sane. Butch Jones??really?? Hue Whatever a WR coach from the Bungholes??No thanks. Try to clean up this mess as much as possible....it is a mess!
