Pulling the class that he has in 3 weeks while trying to build a staff is the most unbelievable job of recruiting I've seen in 40 plus years of following recruiting. Just a magnificent job!

Doesn't mean we are close to being able to compete for the East. Long way to go but we could have fallen many years behind.

Kudos Coach!

I am amazed at what he did. I am really excited to see what he does with a year to recruit (and with a full staff).

Great post, Larry. I totally agree!

I wouldn't have believed anyone with such little name recognition (not considering CVD's impeccable reputation) coming into the job had any chance of pulling this off.

Congratulations, Coach Dooley, on passing the first major test of we critics established early. Now, do better than .500 with this fall's schedule and anyone knowledgeable about the game will be hard pressed to argue that CLK and company could have done any better.

An impressive start... obviously this staff has some serious recruiting skills.

I'm now going into this season with reserved optimism. I'm amazed that I can say that at this point.

Agreed.

We can't explain to Alabama that we only had two weeks to recruit players when we suit up in October. Excuses are worthless.

I thought earlier in the day you pronounced that were going to be "critical for a moment." Appears to me that maybe you have decided to make it a vocation.:eek:k:

I'm still in the moment. I'm looking at this objectively.

Hey, you can never accuse me of being a blind homer at least.

I mean if you guys like losing to Alabama and Florida every year more power to you. I certainly don't. I'm not saying Dooley did not do a GREAT job. I'm just saying we didn't have a GREAT class.

No I appreciate what you bring. This is just about the only place I come for information. But we are still in rebuilding process. X did what he was paid to do. CDD held the line. Am looking forward to seeing progress this year.

Edit: And isn't true objectivity in college football established on the field? That's part of it beauty, the conversion of subjective aspirations into concrete results.

All things considered it was a good class, we will have to wait and see how they pan out of course.

What Dooley did with Hunter, Rogers, Stone was darn near a miracle considering he had two weeks to rebuild the bridges the old staff burned(or never had). We couldn't expect him to do in about 16 days what other programs have an entire year to do. The depth at DT will be sufficient FOR THIS YEAR, and possibly the depth on the O-line also. Also, you can't overlook coaching and what the new OL coach can do given his NFL experience

From my contacts at Tech and LSU, Dooley's weakness is his coaching ability and game time decision making. Dooley excels at recruiting(quite obviously) and mastered the media and his communication skills.

With my knowledge I feel in order for UT to succeed Dooley needs to surround himself with excellent coaches and staff who excel at coaching talent. The abundance of talent Dooley will bring to UT these coaches will need to really excel in coaching these young men.

Congrats UT and Dooley for an excellent recruiting class in 2010. Can't wait til 20011.

From a La Tech, LSU and UT alum,

UT has a very long way to go, last year and this year were nice, but if we ever want to get back to a SECCG we will have to sign more players like Rogers and less like Sapp.

A very good job by CDD and staff with all things considered. Now it's time to shift the focus from recruiting to player development, coaching, and preparation in order to be ready to place a winning product on the field this fall. We are likely still 2 years out before truly being able to compete (consistently) at the highest level, but I think CDD will get us there.

this class is very impressive, but most of these guys will be contributors in 2012, maybe 2011, but next year is going to be deliverance-type brutal...,
