Ok VN, you have been asking for it and now it's time to roll it out.

Here are the ground rules for this little weekly endeavor...

1. This thread is for prospect updates ONLY. This is not a discussion thread, and discussion about the updates in this thread needs to be done in the prospects thread only.

2. When posting an update for a prospect, it can be considered one of two things, fact or rumor. When you post updates in this thread from the prospects thread, please be sure to post whether it is fact or rumor so others know as well. This rule is a biggie for the updates.

3. You may only post updates from THIS board and from the actual prospect thread. Each link will go to the post inside the prospects thread to where people can read that and then read the other posts after if they choose to do so. It may come from another site, but we want the updates to come from the prospects thread itself.

4. Here is the format I would like to see it in....

Markeith Ambles - Rumored to have committed to UF at Friday Night Lights

ALWAYS put the prospects name in front of the update so it's easily identifiable. You don't have to put the date because when you post the update I will take it to the first post of the weekly thread. Noticed I made sure to say "rumored". You must do this if it is a rumor. If it's confirmed later, just post the newest update and I will replace the rumor with fact. Pretty easy. They will all be posted under the date that the update is submitted, just like a post in a thread.

Now, if any of you have any trouble linking the posts from the prospects threads, just PM me and I will walk you through it. I really hope this all goes according to plan because it's going to be really neat if it does. We will take another step in being the best "Free" forum for recruiting information for Vol and non-Vol fans alike.

Now discuss. :)

I have to go finish my Ph.D before I can decipher your instructions.

I was thinking the same thing. People will catch on once it's started. I don't believe the process will be as complicated as it sounds.

In a nutshell . . . it will be a way to look quickly and see recruiting updates without having to deal with digging through each thread.

Basically, if you post something newsworthy in a player thread, you'll then take a few seconds and link it a separate news thread. It's not nearly as big an undertaking as it sounds. As soon as you see a couple of the links, you'll pick it up pretty fast.

Exactly Freak and GA. It's something new, but it's going to be easy once everyone understands how it works and see it in action.

Great idea ! I love this ! But quick question. How do you get an exact link to a specific topic within a thread. Just like you did in the M Ambles example ?

There is the word "permalink" on the top right hand corner of each post. All you have to do is right click on that link, click Copy Shortcut in IE or Copy Link Location in Firefox, then type what you want it to say....

Highlight the text and press the B up top to bold the text....

Then highlight the text you entered and made bold, select the little earth looking ball with the paperclip underneath it up top and right click paste the link into the link box that is up.

That's pretty much it. :good!:
