More states have got to start showing their power as states. We have let the state lines get erased by the Federal Government. Good job by the voters of MO.
Very conservative state. The Dems are strong in some areas for the same reason they're strong in the south. MO was a border state and the antagonism in the war between the Dems and GOP (aka, The American Civil War) was as great here as anywhere.
When you separate the issues from the party labels, liberals get slammed. About the same margin said no to homosexual marriage a few years ago.
The last "victory" for the left was on stem cells. It was a very close vote. The wording was misleading and millions of out of state $ were poured into the race. Pros outspent cons 10 to one IIRC.
Yes. Right now we have Carnahan vs Blunt for Bond's seat. Both are from political families. I will probably hold my nose and vote for Blunt or else vote Libertarian or Constitution Party. The TP guy I voted for was underfunded and came in a distant second in a field of about 8 or 10.
He could be a player by the next election though- Chuck Purgason.
KC proper has a high minority population along with more liberal whites. The suburbs are much more conservative. Unions aren't as strong in KC even with Ford and GM operating plants there.
