One thing that stood out to me in this hard fought game was how Texas A&M players and coaches were always whining and crying to the officials through out the whole game.

Our guys would just suck it up after a call and head down court. This in the face of several charging calls that should of went against A&M......

GREAT GAME VOLS, YOU SHOWED CLASS...... Now kick florida's A$$.......

I don't know how it looked live, but a lot has been said about officiating. I have officiated before, and the charge/block call can be difficult. But they missed several, although we did have benefit of replay. At least twice the A&M defender was clearly sliding over while UT player was in air. Just frustrating, and it actually effected McRae late as he pulled up on a drive and forced a bad pass. The refs just want to call a charge so bad, and basketball can just be tough to watch with inconsistent calls.

What a great game! The coaches and players were as dedicated as I have ever seen. Sure, you would like to dominate a game and win by 30, but sometimes you just have to fight through a tough night, There were so many times they could have given up - but didn't. I won't say this is the best team we have ever had, and I don't think folks would argue that point. But I can truly say in my 50 years of following the Vols, no team ever fought longer and harder than these kids did today. Congratulations to them. I cannot ever remember being more proud of an effort than by this group tooday. Go Vols.

I thought McRae got out of sync with calls, complained and it affected his game today at times. Prior to that huge 3, he had a rough few possessions.

In his defense, he was hacked at the top of the key.

The more he yells and throws his head back, the fewer calls he is going to get. I though trae got bumped more, and was cut under at least twice. He charged on 1, but didn't benefit from being undercut.

He was hacked on a missed shot late. I think he got hit on the head. His forced pass and TO to Richardson was a direct result of charge calls. They fought through it though.

Two of those charge calls were ridiculous. No doubt it's a tough call, but the defender was clearly still sliding over after UT player was in the air. One of the most frustrating calls in sports. My brother keeps telling me that basketball is so hard to watch these days, and I am starting to agree. I am not claiming its easy, but I just want consistency and for them to get it right.

It looked like quite a bit of orange was there. Glad you got to go! Great win! Good start to a new conference rivalry!

Yep, but he was flustered before. At least he responded. I just thought we were better off with a high pick for trae and we kept going to the wing pick with McRae. Didn't really give home room.
Re the block/charge, its getting ridiculous. Guys are bigger and faster so it is tough, but if you see how a defensive player and offensive player fall to the floor, many times you can tell if the defender has slid over while the offensive player is already in the air. If the defensive player doesn't fall straight backwards, you can almost guarantee its a block. Those guys today were falling sideways after taking a hit.

No doubt about how they fall. Sometimes the wrong official makes the call. I always got upset as a player and coach when an official 30 feet away made the call or was out of position. I always told them if my players put in the effort then you have to put in the effort to be in position to make the call. Sometimes the side official actually has a better view of sliding over but the back official usually makes the call.
