Pruitt Show Cause

According to the NCAA website, former UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt received a 6-year show cause.
Guess he won't be Alabama's defensive coordinator for awhile.
Starting now, or is he given credit for being out of coaching the last 2 years?

I honestly don't know. We have 5 yrs probation and supposedly lose 12 more scholarships over 5 years. So from that I'm saying our probation starts now and so would Pruitt's. But no clue if that's right, just speculating.

I hope our UT family has learned a valuable lesson from all of this. NEVER HIRE A GUMP!
Which raises the subject of Fulmer ... That hire definitely taints his legacy at Tennessee. I always liked him, even with the way things fell apart from 2005 to 2008. I have very mixed feelings about him now. He could not have made a worse hire.

Pruitt stole money from UT with his coaching malpractice accompanied with the cheating. He made quite a bit of money to suck as a football coach.

Not really not the hire, but his failure to monitor what was going on in his own athletic department. Or did he not want to know? Total incompetence either way.

He also got a one year suspension which I don't recall ever hearing anyone get that before.

He was never qualified to be AD but he campaigned for it since the day he was fired as coach. Finally got it & totally fu@ked it up.

And it's sad because nobody bleeds more Orange than Fulmer. He just had no business ever being hired as our AD. Then made the worst possible hire after not being allowed to hire Mel Tucker.

Avoided a $13 million buyout to Pruitt only to give the NCAA $8 million. I’ll take it.

NCAA knows how exciting the Vols are to watch, they weren’t about to rob themselves of those postseason ratings. We back baby !!!🍊

It was never a situation that Tennessee could have paid the JP buyout & everything would go away. Too many people knew of the violations. You had whistleblowers in the AD and opponents had players that had been paid money. It was only a matter of time before the house of cards Pruitt had built came crashing down. UT & Plowman did only thing they could do.

Crazy that Pruitt only got 6 years and Donnie Tyndall got 10 years. Of course it really sucks that we had 2 coaches in our 2 premier programs end up this way. Tyndall's issues mostly pre-dated UT but it's still an embarrassment

Pruitt and Tydall are similarly situated in that they were both hired by athletic directors ill equipped to handle the job. The only reason Handsome Dave opened the checkbook to pay Rick Barnes was to make people forget he hired Tyndall as a panic hire without support from a search firm when Mike White turned down the job he said he would take.

Tyndall's case was an example of former athletic director Dave Hart not doing enough vetting and then Hart got lucky when Texas fired Barnes and he was able to scoop him up.
