While Tennessee fans got to spend yesterday watching the Vols molly whop the Bayou Bengals, here's how some other folks spent their day.

Wanya Morris, Eric Gray, and Key Lawrence got publicly spanked by Texas like an unruly toddler throwing a tantrum at the mall. 49-0

Dee Beckwith had a close-up seat from the bench watching Kentucky being upset by South Carolina 24-14.

Tiyon Evans' coach managed to avoid getting fired this week by beating Virginia and getting back to .500 in a game he didn't play due to injury.

Quavaris Crouch, Lyn-J Dixon, and Darel Middleton also didn't play and watched from the sofa.

Next man up mentality and we never even consider the ones we've lost to the portal. I say good riddance to the ones who've decided to transfer on to something else. The guys who have come in and taken their spots deserve our attention more than the guys who aren't even here anymore. My advice is let bygones be bygones and focus on the future on Rocky Top with the great men we do have on the Hill. That's just my .02!

Gray or QC could have been contributors. Other than him, the rest would also have been watching from the bench. Evans had the same injury issues for us last year.

I prefer to appreciate what we have, and ignore what we don't. Regarding the players who left, as Purity Milk used to put it:

If only Hype would warm up to the idea of throwing more than one slant per game. Not criticizing, but dang, with our WRs, it’s there for the taking at its $$ with our guys.
Hyatt had easy pickings on that slant TD, as wide as we line up and as much as we go to WR screens, I agree need to add more over the middle to arsenal

Loyalty is a beautiful thing. So is irony.

Guys thought they did what was best for them. If they were taking McDonald bags, it was best for the university too. It’s like I told my boys growing up…all decisions have consequences, so you better be sure you make the right ones.

Like somebody said, I’m not sure any of them would have been eligible if they had stayed because of the McDonald’s sacks. What I don’t get about that theory though is that if the players accepted money, how did they get off scot-free from any sanctions just from transferring? Doesn’t seem quite right to me but nobody ever said the NCAA is fair or consistent. Guess it doesn’t matter much anymore with the new rules.

They had to leave. The University flushed every person and player involved in payments to avoid NCAA sanctions.

They didn’t have a choice.

$60,000 is a laughable figure for payments in light of $280,000 for a recruiting trip, but those were the rules and Danny White made sure to clear the slate for Josh Huepel.

It’s one thing to be petty. It’s another to be ignorant.

I don't think their eligibility would have been in doubt if they had stayed. That is not the way the NCAA works anymore. The LSU basketball recruit who Will Wade discussed making a "strong a$$ offer" to on an FBI wiretap was Javonte Smart. He played two full seasons after the contents of that wiretap had become publicly known.

It's possible that members of the UT administration told Eric Gray, Wanya Morris, Keyshawn Lawrence, Henry To'oto'o, Quevaris Crouch and company that they had to transfer ... but I don't think that's what happened. Those players wanted out because we were already bad, and they thought we were about to get even worse.

As far as the Oklahoma transfers are concerned. They were sold a bill of goods by Lincoln Riley. He recruited them to OU under the veil of an established program's success and stability ... but then he bailed for southern California a year later.

Conjecture. That hasn't been confirmed.
