QB Pavio at Vanderbilt Graduated H.S. With Zero Stars and No FBS Offers

Shows the incompetence of Rivals (owned by Yahoo) system of ranking. There's a lot of Pavios out there who never get the opportunity due to Rivals (owned Yahoo).

Vanderbilt raided North Dakota State University for Kill and Pavla.

So are you saying they are wrong about Nico and Arch and all the other 5 star players? Maybe they can measure physical ability but it is hard to measure the heart of a 16-17 year old and how dedicated they are to hard work.

I hate Vandy, but i have to admit their QB was fun to watch during the bama game. Talk about laying it on line. Great play designs too.

He’s like a “Pete Rose”. Looking at Pete’s scouting card (short, average speed, average arm, singles hitter , etc) no team today would bother to go scout him, yet the guy is just a player.

Having seen Pavia play twice in-person, the guy is just a tough, gritty player who doesn’t make many mistakes. His only flaw is that sometime he tries to make a play himself when he was better-served to hand-off. But, dude plays with heart, drive, and a gamesmanship that wins you ball games. The 4th & 1 throw for a TD in the 3rd quarter is exemplary of that—the play was supposed to be a short pass, but he took a chance on the deep man, and it paid off.

The kid is a baller but looking at his size it is easy to see why he wasn't a "star" player coming out of high school at the QB position. As far as stars go I think stars start at 3 so if you are a zero star it just means you're not a 3 star.
We have Will Brooks who is a walk on starting for UT. Shite happens.
Also, coaches don't recruit based on a Rivals ranking, or at least we better hope ours doesn't.

It starts at two stars.

I think Pavia is a good example that you can be a really good football player and not necessarily be a great prospect at a particular position. Occasionally a guy like that can do pretty well even at this level.

Does it show their incompetence or the difficulty of the task?

Rivals doesn't hand out scholarships. Nobody wanted him. This guy was in the Lobos' back yard and they didn't want him. Why should we expect Rivals to predict he'd be good at college football 5 years later?

He threw for 1400 yards and rushed for 400 for his entire HS career. Some guys deserve to be flying under the radar.
