Where does the verbal commitment from BJ Coleman leave us in terms of recruiting other signal callers in this class. I've heard that we didn't need to sign a qb in this class, but if the right one came along we'd do it. Now that Coleman is a Vol, where does that leave the scholly offers to Joe Chaisson and Travaris Cadet? Chaisson has us as his leader, and Cadet seems high on us and VT. Are we now turning our back on 2 talented and athletic dual-threat qbs?

That's a great question. It was my understanding that Coach Cut wanted a dual-threat quarterback. Does Coleman fit that mold???

Whether or not his decision affects the others, I'm not too sure. Anytime you chose to go to a high profile school there is always going to be competition. It's all about who fits well with the system that is being used and the types of players in that system.

Of course it's just the paper and it's just a recruit repeating what the Coach said but according to Coleman Fulmer said that of all the QB's they were scouting he was the one they wanted to be a Tennessee Volunteer. I think this was a good get regardless of the "stars" involved.

he's not the qb I want, am I the only one that notices that the blue chippers are going to lsu, uf, uga, and our recruits are choosing us over marshall and iowa state.

UTC has a new recruiter that believes in offering to the local kids even if he doesn't have a chance with that player hoping that their Coach will remember and give him a better chance later on. I bet Marshall thinks the same way. Just because that is who offered Coleman doesn't mean that is his talent level.

Right, because there are no good, NFL talent QBs to ever play at Marshall ....

This is getting dangerously close to a slam on young men who want to come play football for the team we support. If you don't like the offers being made then blame the coaches. Please don't bash some kid for accepting the chance to play football at UT. Heck, if they offered me, I'd drag my 30-something bones out there and give it a shot. Who wouldn't?

That last question is rhetorical so please don't remind me of Turner, Warren, St. Jimmy, etc.

Did you forget Turner, Warren, Clausen, and others?

i hope signing him won't hurt our chances with other guys, because out of the QB's we'd offer he was definitly the lowest i wish we were getting.

GJ Kinne announced yesterday that he's no longer interested in Tennessee. Kinne said our coaches called him and asked for his commitment over the phone...when he said he needed more time, they told him they were going with BJ Coleman instead.

I'm all for getting verbal commitments early in the process...it just seems strange though, that our coaches pushed so heavily in June to get a commitment for a position that we really didn't even have a need for in this class. I hope they know something that the rest of the coaches in the country don't know about BJ Coleman.

I should have recognized that Marshall is a QB factory, what's that 2 overrated qbs in the NFL, yeah, that's what I want, let's go head to head with the thundering herd, forget about UF and UGA
