does anybody know if we are even recruiting a qb this year. i was on rivals a couple of minutes ago and it seems like we don't stand a chance in getting in on any of the top prospects. does anybody have any info, because it seems like we really need another QB to through into the mix.

calm down. we havent seen crompton and maybe ainge will settle down. i think the qb battle will be good next year i ijust hope we come to a starter.

but since ainge has lost his confidence and crompton is coming off a injury shouldn't we be recruiting another qb. it seems like a awful big gamble just hoping things will pan out.

I really don't care. I know that they need to decide and stick with it. I am tired of this flip/flop crap. Makes me dizzy thinking about it.

Don't know why a top QB in the nation wouldn't want to come in and compete. Next year we will have an unproven Fr. coming off of an injury and a Jr. who at this point is in disarray. If I was one of the top QBs in the nation I would jump at the chance to come here and have a chance to start as a true freshman.

Yes but Crompton could also become the next QB sensation, or Ainge could returned to the rocket-armed passer who is able to manhandle SEC pass defenses.

true or Crompton may never fully recover from his injury and Ainge could fall on his face again. Just don't see why a QB wouldn't come here since he would be in the thick of the things from the time he stepped on campus, especially after we started Freshmen at QB in '04.

crompton is untested and ainge may never regain his form. we need atleast 1 or maybe 2 QB's in this recruiting class. i wouldn't mind a juco QB especially if he is fast and can run the ball.

Tebow looked early but moved on. As for this class I will be surprised if they get a QB. If by some chance they do sign one it will not be a highly rated one since those have not looked at UT or looked and decide to go elsewhere.

Weren't you guys also in the running to get Teebow as well?

No... Of the Elite 11 QB's, I think only one had us on his interested list. It was a kid from Washington state.

Time to get a player from the same region as our school. Crompton and one other. Send Ain't / Ainge over to Thompson Boling with Coach Pearl and get on with '06.

maybe he is afraid that with our offenseive coaching staff he will regress from a future nfl star to a backup. :dunno:

Why does it matter where a player comes from?

Whoever mentioned the JUCO QB: Fantastic idea, if Ainge doesn't pan out. The problem is, all but one of the best 10 or so pro-style QB's in the country have already committed. The only one that hasn't is a kid named Chris Smelley from Tuscaloosa, who is likely to go to Bama or Ole Miss.

On a somewhat related note: I would like to see Ainge stick around, maybe get the start in '07 when we play Cal. They are recruiting a kid from the next town over named Kevin Riley, both QB's played in the same league in high school. Metro League QB face-off!

In terms of recruiting the class of '06, we are stuck. There are not really too many high-quality running QB's out there, and the ones that are have already committed, except for Tim Tebow. But he has no interest in Tennessee. The one good running QB that did have interest in us was Jake Locker from Ferndale Washington, but he's given a solid verbal to UDub.

are there any running QB's in the juco ranks or are we just stuck with what we have.

Has Teebow narrowed it down yet? I saw him play on tv and he's GOOD. Too bad he's not interested in UT.

I wondered when some of you Monday Morning Quarterbacks would get around to your all too frequent and most unfounded blaming of our coaches for any and everything that goes wrong in the game and or now the recruiting. :bad: If some of you wannabees and naysayers are such damned intelligent offensive masterminds, apply for the coaching job! Maybe some Pee Wee Team out there might let you guys into the interview process. :gun:

I coached for 7 years, albeit junior high, and I got sick of hearing the Bleecher Bubba wiseas**s complain about my decisions. I never will forget how one jerk even beat me up on local radio after we beat an opponent by the score of 64-6. Of course all the criticism had the ocult rationale that his son was the second string fullback. The actual criticism as I recall it was that I called the dogs off too early in the 4th quarter. Coincidentally, and to show how stupid he was, his son got more playing time because I called the dogs off.

That's about as good as The Cooter.
