CBJ said he would taylor his offense to fit the talent. So how does this work, considering that he cant evaluate his talent, in person, until spring? I would assume the players are given playbooks asap, and a good bit of the offensive scheme learned by spring practice? Someone clarify for me, and thanks.

Evaluation by film?

lol @ Jax. game film evaluation is obvious, but you cant design an offense from watching film, especially when your most obvious fit at QB has yet to play a snap. thats ridiculous.

Film mostly.

Remember when Urban came to UF, he changed his style to fit his team the first year. This was The time when he sprinkled in Tebow. This is because he had a senior QB that wasn't a running QB.

This is what Butch is saying. If he doesn't have a running QB, he will work with it until he gets his guys in place.

One thing I keep saying, in high school Worley ran this system and was the Gatorade player of the year. Of course he was throwing to CP a lot, but he isn't a mobile QB. I am really interested to see if he offers AW.

Butch seems to be targeting speed over size right now in his WR recruits and Worley or Peterman should thrive in this system.

He will jump on NCAA 13 and knock out a few games. Since we all know, if you're good at that game then you can coach any where in the country.

Absolutely you can. Opposing defenses use it every week to scheme. He would obviously have to tweak it based on who starts, which I would bet is Peterman. He changed it midseason this past year when Munchie went down and the back up was a pure pocket passer.

He didnt change it his first yr at UF. He tried to run his offense with leak at QB and had a middle of the road offense. He finally changed it yr 2 to do what leak did best then brought Tebow in as a change of pace QB. Urban was very stubborn his first yr tryinv to get Leak to be a spread QB, but finally adjusted and won the NC the next year and his offense was top 25 I believe. He didnt have Tebow until yr 2.

Every coach always says that they will adjust their system to fit the players on the roster.

Few actually mean it though.

Florida was pretty disjointed on offense when they were splitting time between Leak and Tebow in 2006. They won a championship but it was on the back of their defense.

Not necessarily a criticism of Jones and his staff's coaching ability, but I don't see this offense producing consistently next season.

Replacing 6 starters(Bray, Hunter, Patterson, Thomas, Rivera, and Rogers as a part time starter) and learning a new system on a truncated schedule is not going to be easy.

I think basically he will ask that the offense score more points than the other team.

Refresh my memory, but when did Bray, Hunter, and Patterson declare for the draft?

You can assume they are all coming back for all I care.

I'll continue to expect them to go pro until they announce they are staying.

It's real simple to be able to have a difference of opinion without being a complete smart-ss. Try it sometime.

I heard CBJ was going to have the whole team and many of the recruits over to his place for a BBQ/practice/frat party during the dead period. I heard him say on VoLcalls that there were lots of sneaky ways around those nit picky NCAA Nazis.

During this dead period CBJ and the position coaches will be living in their coaching rooms going over tape and making evaluations and notes on every player they expect to be back next season.

They will also be talking to each player and getting to know them and their thoughts on everything as well as the players thoughts on their teammates.

Never discount how much vital info can be learned from solid tape evaluations because watching a real game can tell many things about a player during the actual heat of battle on the field and how that can translate to new systems.

This coaching staff already KNOWS what they're looking for and what they want to do so this isn't on the job training like much of it was for our last staff.

I don't expect a miracle their 1st year but I do expect that we'll be back in a Bowl game and will surprise somebody along the way and ruin their season, LOL.

Butch said that we are going to the single wing and running the ball on every play.

He did say that in the initial team meeting although I believe his exact words were "wing-T." He got a good laugh out of the team. 'twas an excellent icebreaker.

This is correct!! They have also set up a meeting with Bobby Bowden, to learn a version of the veer!! Coach Jones said for this team to be a success, they must run the ball at least 75 times a game. Also, he would like T.O.P. to be around 45-15 minutes in our favor. He also said in the presser, he is going to go for two point conversions after every score.

Most offenses are flexible enough to accomadate either a passing or rushing quarterback. So the playbook doesn't change, just the play calls.

Last year we had spead option and zone read in the offense. If you go back to the practice videos that were posted on here, it's some of the first stuff they learned because it's simple.

If Bray stays, you don't call those plays. They are still their if needed, but just not used.
